Are you a gamblin' man (woman)?

Nope. I’ve worked too hard for my money to throw it away like that. Because someone pays for all those fancy casinos, but it’s not going to be me.

A FOOL AND HIS/HER MONEY ARE QUICKLY PARTED. Me gamble? Never!
It is important not to be a fool when gambling.

Know what you are doing (learn and practice the game), have a budget and stay the course...it is never about winning, it is about having a good time and when you win, that is 'gravy'!

I moved to Reno 26 years ago and had never gambled so it was fun to do occasionally. My mom liked the slots and we would play when she visited. I have not played since she died 14 years ago. There’s people that have had to leave the state because the temptation to gamble is everything including restrictions, grocery stores, etc.

You might consider me one because I do play the lottery frequently and I win frequently too. I don't win life changing amounts of money, more's the pity, but I do play. I'm always in the black so my lottery playing doesn't hurt me or anyone else. I have never been to a casino nor desire to go to one but have lots of friends and family members who do and they do well and enjoy themselves there. They get perks from frequenting casinos. My friend's mom is almost 100 yrs old and goes to the casino all time and does very well, so what can I say?

I understand people, who hopefully can afford it, enjoy gambling and view it as entertainment. It's their money, and they can do what they want with it. I've gambled a few times in my life, but I'm not a gambler, and I haven't been to a casino in twenty-five years. My husband enjoyed gambling occasionally and won many times. He had a set amount to throw in the toilet, so to speak, and that was it. The deal was that if he hit, he would walk away.

My brother-in-law loved to gamble big. He got meals and rooms comped at several casinos. My husband and I would meet him at the casinos, and we'd eat and drink for free. Sometimes, take in a show. Then my husband and I would stay in the comped room while my BIL was up all night gambling.

When I was in my twenties, I had an older boyfriend who liked to go to the track. Imagine my surprise when, the first time he took me and every time afterwards, he gave me money to bet. I thought that was sweet. It was fun, especially because I wasn't betting my own money.

I don't like to gamble, but I'm perfectly willing to take advantage of the perks it offers when someone wants to share them with me. Why not? It doesn't cost me a dime.

NO

And have never bought any lottery tickets so am hard core. My Dad was physically addicted to gambling. That began when he was in the Navy during WWII. A reason we lived in the Sacramento region for years was Nevada casinos were just a couple hours drive east. Favorite was poker and visited many California poker clubs. Decades ago as a Tahoe skier, I would sometimes gamble a bit in their local casinos. As a young adult, I learned to count cards in blackjack but casino gambling bores me due to the negative statistical reality. So haven't since over decades.

I like penny ante poker. Used to love playing with friends and suspect the attraction was the socializing and not the "pot". I have been to Vegas a couple of times but that is not really my cup of tea.

I used to go to the casino once in a great while. I don't go anywhere now since I'm attached to the hose that feeds me my oxygen. Going out is such a big pain in the caboose! However I do love my scratch tickets, our son takes the finished ones and if I win he gets me as many as I have won. Yay, I have done pretty well recently.........not to the point of taking the cash but I get to enjoy the scratching.

A no from me. Just never seen the point of it. I follow football, and my brother (a gambler) said it makes it more exciting - but I find it plenty exciting without. I'm not perfect, but gambling isn't one of my sins.

Been to Vegas many times...used to gamble back when we first started going, I realized very soon that it was a losing deal and then only went for the nice hotels, shows, restaurants and shopping, but in recent trips it has changed so much, too crowded or maybe I'm just too old, it no longer appeals, as someone else mentioned..just getting on a plane no longer appeals.

Nope! Has never had any attraction for me. Don't buy lottery tickets because I'd likely forget to check the number after the lottery draw
The thing that I find odd is that I often hear about someone winning money after a trip to the casino but I have yet to hear someone say; "I really lost my shirt last night at the casino". Don't understand how that works as the casinos are doing just fine! It's a mystery how they can survive with everyone winning more than they lose

Interesting story recently on the news here in Canada, there's a 70 million dollar unclaimed lottery win from June 28th of last year and they're appealing to people to check any old lottery tickets. The win becomes null & void if not claimed within 1 year's time. That would really suck if someone found the ticket after it had expired o_O

It's funny but our local papers love to show photos of folks that won millions. However, they never show photos of those thousands of gambling addicts that blow their money, can't pay their bills and cannot afford to buy groceries. Some even commit suicide! I guess that is not SEXY and not politically correct even to think about it!

Gambling has never had any appeal for me. I've played a few slot machines in Vegas, but the only time I really gambled was in my 20's. I went to Jai Alai with friends. I bet and won $443. I took all my friends out for dinner and pocketed the rest. It was a huge sum in those days!

I enjoy gambling @ times. I never gamble enough that it would bother me to lose it. I bought $5 in lotto, won quite a bit. Gamble @ casinos, never spend over $100, always win my money back with xtra. My attitude is its entertainment, if I win ok/Lose ok. I usually win allot more than I lose. Its fun. Never play, if gambling is not for fun and winning becomes the goal!

My sister’s now late ex-husband secretly gambled thousands away when they were barely making ends meet. I’m sure it contributed to their divorce.

Living near the eastern coast of the U.S., buses are regularly run to Atlantic City casinos filled mostly with retirees. The sponsoring casinos gave the participants a small stake of $10-$20 plus meal vouchers to go. I went on one such trip, played the slots until I had doubled my given money, then quit and was bored for the rest of the day. I much preferred Atlantic City in its pre-casino days as a beach resort.

The extent of my current gambling is to buy the SO $5 worth of scratch off state lottery tickets weekly. She occasionally wins on them, plus it keeps her quiet, occupied, and out of my hair for a while…that’s a good investment for me! 😸

Here in Ontario all of the casinos are Government owned, with management companies that get a fixed percentage of the profits ( 10 to 15 precent ) . All of the profits from the casinos, lotteries, and scratch tickets go to pay for services to seniors, children's hospitals and the Trillium Fund, which pays for MY remicade medication that treats my colitus. If I had to pay the cost of the remicade, it would cost over $ 10,000 a year. So, every time some one buys a lottery ticket, or drops a loonie into a slot machine in Ontario, a few cents go towards paying for my medication. JimB.
