Hey, how's it going today for you? It's 2023. An alternate thread for different people.

Thank you @Remy Are you going to retire anytime soon? What do you do for your knee? I find that a compression sleeve helps me. My knee has been acting up too. I need to find where I put the compression sleeve. I actually need to find one a size larger. Often things you wear run smaller when made in China.
I put two doses of Voltaren gel on my knee today and it helped. I was thinking of getting a soft knee sleeve myself.

I hope to retire. Not sure when. I do only work part time and it's enough.

A decent past week and weekend, did a bit too much
exercise, so am sore somewhat, cooking and baking
are in motion always, and my lower back, knees and
hips are doing their best to not give up lol so pressing
forward and onward, skies are blue, some sun today
and I am leaving soon to join friends for Pancakes and
coffee :)

I have been home for 6 days recovering from my 11 day vacation in Europe. I had so much fun but was on a tour and we walked 12-16k steps a day which is double what I usually do so I am tired. Today I test a client and hopefully have time to walk the dogs.

@Ruthanne , I'm so relieved to see that Suzy is eating much better now! My dog also loves chicken. Now and then I'll bring home a rotisserie chicken and she can smell it right away.

Like Suzy, my dog is getting up there in years. I forget how old she is and honestly, I really don't want to know. I'm terrified to lose her.

She also is a bit slower getting up from a nap, also naps more, has a little trouble jumping up on the couch sometimes. But like Suzy is alert and peppy on walks. The vet says she's in good health, tho'. The slowing down bothers me.

Sounds like that bag of food Suzy can't keep down is the culprit. Yet, it may be that it's too dry for her to digest? I mix dry with canned, usually or just canned. I don't know, but I'm glad Suzy is eating better.

Seems our doggies are similar. Suzy is a Shihtzu too and possibly some other breed mixed in. She is now back on the dry food with some water and a little sweet potato mixed in. That's to keep her tummy from getting upset.

I threw that other bag of food out. She seems better so far. Now I am dealing with her ears. She's always had ear infection problems. I was paying the Vet 200.00 to 300.00 a month for ears treatments .

I looked on Amazon and got something for her ears and also a jar of little pads that stop itching on her paws. She got that from digging in her ears with her paws. Hopefully these will work. And it cost much less than going to the Vet.

My Vet has raised prices astronomically!

Does your dog get ear infections too? @RadishRose

Oh, tell me about the vet's huge fees nowadays! I guess they feel that since doctors for humans charge so much to become wealthy, they should also. They too, have to go to medical school, etc.

No ear infections with my dog (Boudica) yet. I'm glad you found a treatment for yours.

Mine is a Shih Tzu /Terrier mix. She has the face of a Shih . But her ears prick up like a Terrier when something grabs her attention. Her coat doesn't get as long.

Mine has started paw licking. I've read this is due to boredom. So that's my cue to start throwing stuffed toys around the place for her to catch. She won't bring them back tho'. For her it's a game of "Keepaway".

I bet your doggie is really a cutie! Dogs with ears that stand up get less ear infections than dogs with floppy ears like Suzy. It gets humid in their ears and breads bacteria and yeast. It's almost a full time job to tend to her ears and paws. She is starting to let me put the meds in her ears more and use the pads on her paws. The itching has slowed way down after treatment for 2 days. I have 5 more days to go. The ear medicine has hydrocortisone in it that stops the itching. I felt so bad for her going crazy itching her ears and chewing on her paws. I think she is feeling somewhat relieved to have the itching subsiding.

I found this herbal spray I have for her. She used to run away when I tried to use it on her. I have found a way to spray it on her that she is okay with. It has chamomile and lavender in it and smells soooo good. It calms her too. I just spray it all over her back. It's like a conditioner that calms dogs.

Do you give your dog baths? @RadishRose I usually let the groomer do it but I do it at times too. In the Summer I give her more baths.

cooking a roast in the oven a couple hours ago, and my hand slipped
taking the pan out of the oven, roast juice splattered all over my left
arm, wrist, hand, I have almost third degree burns (I think) ran continual
cold water over it 20 minutes, and triple antibiotic ointment next, think
though I might make a trip to urgent care, already starting to get water
blisters all over, why or why did I do this! whine whine whine, I need to
go rest then take a nap. Maybe get on an antibiotic too...

Wow that sounds very painful! I don't know how or rather what they do in the ER but I don't think it would hurt to go there. I hope it gets better ❤️

Thank you @ Ruthanne had myself in a fright, the burns have been evaluated
and are second degree burns, treatment is in motion, I am taking Tylenol and
resting up, feel a bit ill, but will be fine. No antibiotic prescribed.

@Ruthanne and @RadishRose ... read all your 'doggy' posts with great interest.

I'm on a daily watch for things happening in Lil'Bear's (Bichon) aged life. He will be 14 soon, and some days are not so good.
The Vet doesn't offer much in the way of help anymore. Bear goes there for allergy shots every couple months.
He does seem to sleep okay, but his energy comes and goes. And one day he is hungry, the next day, not at all.

I recently discovered Bone Broth for dogs ... Very expensive to buy (can be made at home) .. it helps joint and digestive health. He loves it!
And I give him boneless/skinless chicken often, and also calf liver w/mashed yams. Fresh salmon is another favorite. . all $$$$$$$

Everyday is another adventure with our babies, huh?

Bonnie I was also interested in the foods you mentioned for Bear.

Yes, bone broth is easily made. I think I'll pick up some marrow bones next shopping trip. Thanks for the idea!

We both share baked salmon and other fish too. Yes, the chicken as well, but we don't do yams. Instead, pumpkin puree and cooked carrots. I gave her cooked chicken livers once and she all but inhaled them.

Sometimes I'll cook a package of gizzards and hearts and grind them in the food processor.
She loves that. I freeze a few portions.

I buy Duck bone broth and pour it over any poultry he's eating. It's supposed to be good for liver health too.

Oh yes, about the chicken gizzards/hearts .. they get eaten like a candy treat. lol

Have no idea why Bear won't eat carrots, and even pumpkin most of the time ... but I'm guessing the yams taste sweet to him. ??

Duck bone broth? I'll check it out.
Hahaha, so Bear prefers sweet? Mine won't eat carrots raw, but steamed or baked, she will.

I know that Amazon has many options, but I buy this:

12oz purple pouches (small)

Ruthanne, I take her to the groomers for the usual grooming, but in between time, my grandson gives her a bath.

I have a spray for her too, but I usually forget I have it. I spray my hands and then quickly rub her. It's supposed to be eucalyptus, but there's something else in there too.

You saying my dogs ears are more ventilated and helps to avoid infections makes sense. I had a Cocker Spaniel who had a bad ear infection.

I'm so glad your Suzy is getting over that infection!

What kind of dog do you have @JustBonee I agree as they get older there are changes. I'm sorry your dog has some days that are not as good as others. My dog is around 13 or 14. She naps a lot too. At at other times she sits on the floor and watches me. She still follows me everywhere. Her sleeping is deeper now because she doesn't always get up when I do and I have to call her for breakfast.

Like everyone I am aware that she has limited time left and I try to make the best of it for her.

The bone broth is a good idea. What kind of meat do you use? How much broth do you give your dog? I've been giving mine organic chew sticks with glucosamine and chondroitin for her joints. It seems to help.

@RadishRose That's a good idea to spray your hands and rub it on your dog. I hadn't thought of that. That's cool your grandson likes to give her baths. It's hard on my back when I give her baths. I've thought about kneeling but my knees hurt when I do. I should get knee pads or a cushioned matt to kneel on.

Yes her ears are improving thankfully.

Hi @Teacher Terry Are you feeling better now? That was a long vacation and I envy you😊What country (s) did you visit and what did you do there?

Just read your farewell thread Ruthanne...it's locked so ....
Sorry to see you go and hope you will return when you're ready.

In the meantime, keep smiling 🌻🌻🌻
