Faithful to your hairdresser

I've heard that people can be more faithful to their hairdresser than in their marriage!
Certainly I have stuck with mine through thick and thin. I trust her so much, she gets my hair just as I want. She knows my deepest thoughts, I find it so easy for some reason to talk to her as long as nobody else is in at the same time. I bet hairdressers are like priests in the confessional! It is therapeutic to get hair done and have a good chat.

Once you find The One you do not go anywhere else without very good reasons. Must be 20 years I've known my current one. I did change from the previous firm because they were a large chain, and put prices up to silly levels. I changed to a local one who does it for half the costs, is nearer and just as skilfull.

So how long have you had your hairdresser and would you ever change?

I have had several hairstylists over the years, some of them moved and I had
to find a new one.
I have been going to the current one for five years and hope I can stay with her.
Her prices are reasonable and she wants her clients to be satisfied when leaving
after an appointment.

I went to the same barber for 17 years until he died. Male barbers are a vanishing breed in my area, so now I go to the same “hair cuttery” type place, and never know which woman will be doing my hair. At least they work quickly…in and out in 15 minutes, unlike my old barber, who liked to talk…. ✂️

Loved my barber. He cut it the way I wanted. Since he died, I have yet to find a hairdresser who can manage a simple cut without screwing it up. I refused to pay the last one, it was such a mess. HOW can you foul up so badly with precise instructions and a picture? They all want to do it THEIR way.

Since moving to the area we are now I have gone to many different hair stylists trying to find the one that could cut my hair the way I like it.
I thought that I had found the “one“ but…. the last haircut I got she kept talking and talking as she cut the right side. She is very friendly and I like her but, when I got home the right side was an inch shorter than the left. 🤪

I am very grateful to my hairdresser, she has saved me a fortune. I had gone to her for years and was obviously happy but, had second thoughts when she almost doubled her prices. While I was looking around for alternative salons, I tried some home dyes which worked so well that I decided to DIY it in future. I still go to the hairdresser for a cut but, will go wherever is most convenient tbh.

My hairdresser of 5 years moved across town. Her latest cuts had been quite good, though not good enough for the inconvenience of the trek there. I tried a new lady close by and this is a better cut so I’ll probably stick with her.

Sometimes the cut isn’t everything. There was one lady who only talked about her kids. I could only take a few sessions of that. Not sure even she heard a word I said. Silence would have been golden.

We have barbers here; this town caters to retirees. My husband went to a hairdresser once because I thought it would be a good idea. I thought wrong.

Eddy cuts my hair. He's been doing that for years. He does a good job, but he's more of a friend than a hairstylist. (They're all "stylists"now, there's no more barbers.)
There's a new salon opened recently so, a neighbour went down to check it out and get a price list which just shows an estimated price so, half a head of highlights are listed as "circa £200". Instead of the usual one or two sided card which shows their prices, it's a sort of brochure which is filled with photos and details of the "artists" and their Instagram profiles. The salon is very swish but, whenever I walk by, all I see are the artists looking bored although, admittedly, fabulous - I suspect the salon will be a coffee shop by Christmas :)

Note for those not familiar with highlight jargon: half a head does not mean the right or left side but, refers to top or bottom so, for around £200 you can have, say, highlights added from your roots to your ears or, from your ears downwards. Presumably a full head would be circa £400 and you would need to apply for a mortgage

I have been going to the same shop since I moved here in 2018. My first hairdresser moved to Maine to get married but left instructions with her best friend who also works in that shop how to do her customers. I love how she does my hair and keeps my color natural. I would hate to have to go to someone new.

Our stylist was our neighbor first and we have used her for about 26 years she comes to our home if we can't get to her and does the best job and is so great at what she does. We don't know what we are going to do when she retires which she will one day!She is now one of our closest friends and we would do anything for her and vise versa.

I went to the same hairdresser for thirty years. She was old school and really knew how to cut hair, she was terrific. Then she retired and closed shop just as the pandemic hit. 🙁 Woe is me. I finally made an appointment with the hairdresser who cut my husband's hair. She's a nice woman and did fine with my husband's hair, but she was no match for my previous hairdresser, not by a long shot. I've been looking for a new hairdresser ever since. I'm about to bust a move and make an appointment this week. 💇‍♀️ We shall see. I wish I could say I'm looking forward to it, but, no. I'm scared, lol. The good thing is, if she screws up, it'll grow.

Bella you will be fine! She will be great. You will leave looking like a rock star.

All my life I went to a one man barber shop where the owner was the barber.

Those kind of guys are usually easy to talk to and only talk if you want to. So they never wore me out.

Then my latest guy sold his shop and moved in with a 4 man operation which I didn't care for. It was like grand central station for hair cutting.

Now I trim my own hair. There's not a lot on the top to cut...just a comb over.
The sides I can see and trim.
The back, I just cut across and later ask my son how it looks. He always says it looks fine.

I take his word for it.
