Once again I'd like to thank our members who expressed interest and who replied in my initial post that establishing this category is a good and interesting idea. Of course many thanks to @Matrix for making it happen I think it is awesome that he did his own search for related topics and added them here. Feel free to post your own paranormal-supernatural or just plain unexplainable experiences or those of others you know. We will be covering topics (and the sub-topics) of things that are shown in the category description. I am so looking forward to reading about your experiences.

I welcome your thoughts, even if you don't believe such things exist, but any thread or post that seeks to ridicule or belittle others for their beliefs and experiences will be reported to Matrix for removal. So lets keep it engaging and respectful please. Thank you.

My son and his girlfriend at that time moved into a new apartment and he called me saying it was haunted and they were scared. I had the name of a local psychic medium who had been recently in the newspaper after getting rid of a spirit/ghost in an old school that is a business now. So my son called her and she came to his apartment (no charge). She said as she walked down his hallway to his living room she saw spirits jumping into the wall right in front of her. She told my son about them and what she does. Then she asked him if he wanted her to get rid of them.............he thought about it a minute and said no. He wanted them to stay. Since that time it seems this is all he is interested in and I never know if it is real or in his imagination.

I have had my own experiences which maybe I will share at a later time.

Sometimes it's hard to know what's real when these experiences happen, especially if someone has vivid dreams (and perhaps a vivid imagination). If she in fact saw the ghosts and he requested that she leave them be, perhaps he is still seeing them. I'm looking forward to you sharing your experiences Katlupe. If one has had little awareness of spirits/ghosts (they are actually more common than most think) the first encounter where one knows for certain it wasn't a corporeal being one saw can be jarring. But pragmatic people then go into investigative mode: What exactly is this? How does all this work?

True. Some spirits of loved ones will visit IN one's dreams the first time because they are aware that for some of us that is easier to deal with---and it is less judged if one says ' i dreamed about my deceased parent/spouse/child' rather than "The spirit of my deceased loved one visited me."

i know from personal experience that 'hauntings' have been gravely misrepresented in TV and Film, tho i often recommend well done ones like 'Dragonfly', 'Stir of Echoes', 'Heart and Soul'. i also thoroughly enjoy well-done comedic approaches to the subject from 'Topper' to the current series 'Ghosts' to the Netflix movie 'We Have a Ghost'.

Thank you OED for requesting this, and many thanks to Matrix for facilitating it. Ideas for threads have been 'percolating' in my brain since yesterday morning. Some possibilities, would go into more detail and ask others to share their own experiences on each thread.

The Variety of 'Hauntings': Spirits, ghosts, 'residual haunts'. In that one or a separate thread the fact that we don't always recognize when we first see or hear one that it is a 'ghost'. Inside our homes we're quicker to realize someone we see 'shouldn't be there. But in public places, or even in our yard, approaching house-we can think it is a 'living', and incarnate being only to be puzzled when we open the door and no-one is there. (Attend the behavior your critters--tho they are not always scared.)

The Individuality of near-death experiences (like Gaer said on other thread--the soul has choices). Often the experience is shaped by underlying beliefs we have. But they can surprise us--settings we expect but then the entities there say the unexpected.

The Difficulty Distinguishing Between Premonitions and Insights/Intuition. Not to mention figuring things out when you just have what's actually a telepathic empathic experience: You FEEL the anxiety, fear, pain, grief of others but get few or no clues to precipitating event while feeling it. i much prefer when this happens while i'm in dream state---usually between 3-5 a.m. Because in the dream i do get some clue: Plane/Train/Multi-vehicle pile up; Tornado, Tsunami. i can search news because once i am absolutely certain that what i was feeling was second-hand--i can, while having compassion and concern for those involved, clearly label it 'not mine, not personal'. Because i do pick up on things from my loved ones too.

This told the story of the hunt for the killer of three teenage girls and how some 30 years later he was identified using DNA analysis. The problem was that the suspect had died, so the police obtained permission to exhume his body to obtain a sample of DNA. The detective leading the investigation described that as the coffin was uncovered, there was an enormous peel of thunder overhead, " as is evil had been exposed".
