I was living in Zurich when Stonewall was invaded and the gays fought back! Extremely happy moment for me! I was thrilled! I believe I was listening to a BBC radio channel. Followed this wonderful movement from afar. So proud of those men, because at that time, only men were involved in this liberation. Then it spread.....Yay! Freedom to BE!

PS. very close to my BD. A Gift! Thank you, Brave People!

I had the pleasure of working with Gays back in the 90's. I did grief counselling and cared for those suffering with AIDS. My heart went out to some of those young men who had been scorned by their families because of their "Gayness". I sat with them in their darkest hour waiting for a family member to come and say 'hello'. Now I will have the greatest pleasure seeing my Granddaughter marrying her Lesbian life partner in
October., 2023. Her Father is so proud to give her away at the Wedding. I don't care what people think about the event as Jamala said, "The only tragedy in Life is Hate". Hate eats away at the heart and makes one a very bitter person.

I have many gay friends and acquaintances. Many garden designers I know are gay and their work is wonderful. The one who lives closest to me was kind enough to let me hire his crew for a Saturday. Came over with them, made sure they had what they would need and explained what I wanted in Spanish which I have no talent for and chatted with me a while as they worked. In general I like that gay men are often more articulate, more in touch with their feelings and creative. Of course that is just my experience so YMMV.

Lesbians I enjoy because they often seem more more comfortable in their own skin and more frank in their manner of speaking. My wife of course speaks her mind and obliged me by giving up make up for the most part; but she is hopelessly str8 so I never got to take advantage of her lesbian appeal. Back in the day that could have fun. Now, meh. By contrast women in my family (str8) tend to be self effacing and retiring. Of course we are all victims of our cultural milieu but it seems to me that owning a difference in s**ual orientation often sets people up to challenge other norms in ways that strengthen who they are. Not that we heterosexuals cannot do the same but in my experience it is rarer. Though I prefer the ladies where love and intimacy is concerned I may lean the other way where conversation is concerned.

Knowing me pretty well I'm darn near positive that I won't be joining in on celebrating Gay Pride Month but I will be observing Natl. Moonshine Day today......feel free to stop by and join me and take a big swig off the jug if you're in the neighborhood.

Much respect for you, thanks. I wish the best for your granddaughter and her wife, happy to hear that they were married, sending love and warm thoughts to them and you. ☮️

Oh dear. There have been few times in my life that I've literally been stunned speechless. But nothing to say to this post that wouldn't be inappropriate.
I think being in his late 80s gives him a different mindset and likely has not had any positive relations with anyone who was gay. I don't agree with him of course, but as I already posted, I kind of understand and wish him well.
