My son brought over some "Impossible Burgers" for us. He said they are better than the "Beyond Beef" brand. I have to admit, they are delicious; I was shocked. I even bought a box; expensive for what they're made from but I understand the cost of the research.

I didn't buy anymore after that d/t the Cons listed here-

Pros

  • sustainable alternative to beef burgers
  • vegan-friendly and gluten-free
  • similar to beef-based burgers in terms of taste and texture
  • contains several important nutrients, including vitamin B12, folate, and thiamine
  • offers the same amount of protein as 80% lean beef
  • versatile and easy to prepare

Cons

  • limited research available on long-term safety of soy leghemoglobin
  • contains some common food allergens, such as soy
  • made with genetically modified ingredients
  • higher in sodium than regular beef

I'm not real big on fake meat of any kind... but I do like Dr. Praeger's California Veggie Burgers and the ingredient list isn't bad.

Ingredients: Carrots, Onions, String Beans, Oat Bran, Soybeans, Zucchini, Expeller Pressed Canola Oil, Peas, Broccoli, Corn, Soy Flour, Spinach, Red Peppers, Arrowroot Powder, Corn Starch, Garlic, Corn Meal, Sea Salt, Spices.

Lol, I didn't know this until I just saw your post. Oddly enough, we already planned to have Morning Star Farms Griller's Prime Veggie Burgers for supper. We don't eat them that often but we have two left from the package and will have them on Brioche buns with tomato, onion and mayo. The French fries will go in the oven soon, they take around an hour.

Happy Veggie Burger Day! :)

We tried those 'created' meat burgers when they first came out, did not like them at all and did not buy them after that.

I'm okay with a veggie burger being just that, not some lab grown meat. We still have hamburger patties sometimes too, Prime Rib, Wagyu, etc., we get those at Safeway. Not cheap but good, we don't eat any burgers too often, but nice to have on hand when you're in the mood.

I don't like the ingredients in veggie burgers. I avoid soy as much as possible. It's one of the most pesticide-treated (glyphosate) and genetically modified substances on the planet. So, it's a no from me. 👎

I like the black bean veggie burgers on occasion. Quite spicy, but with lettuce, tomato, onion, mayo, I enjoy it!
All that protein, and zesty, too! Yum....
