It sounds very simple but sometimes the most profound advice comes your way via simple. The words 'the past stays in the past and now is now" If you cannot fathom the profundity and complexity of these words as they given to me, that's al right you had to have been there under identical conditions as me.

Life is a b1tch.

Actually life is pretty good for the majority of people. We just have to learn to slow down, smell the flowers, don't get caught in the mad consumer society, forget about keeping up with those crazy "Joneses".

Also, it helps to get out in the country now and then. Away from the noise, pollution, crime and madness of our monster cities. It also helps to eat healthy food, drink in moderation, don't do illegal drugs, drive defensively, get a good night's sleep and find someone to love.

Cutting back on watching the news, the TV and stop starring all day at your phone would all be steps to a better, more healthy and longer life. :):)

I stopped watching the news just about a year ago. Lying and deception is no way to try to decide what is and what isn’t the truth.

In my case the circumstances of my life created a completely different breed than most SF people here. Of course I'm human, however, I willing to bet that my mind runs a little different than most. Saying that, I wouldn't trade my thoughts for any other.

True statement on a basic level... but I've found that if I totally forget about/ignore/try to bury the past, it opens some ugly doors to make the same mistakes and make the same poor choices. I kind of like to remember the past and keep it in perspective.

I'm an Eeyore. Things are pretty good for us (wife and I), but I believe life is good for only a handful of people. Many reasons for that, much of it just plain ignorance. Not learning about the many things that are happening, at least in this country, and not caring. 'Stuff' happens to people who don't make an effort to plan, understand finances, understand contracts, understand what they need to do on and off the job to be successful, how to 'better' themselves with more education/training, how to facilitate good relationships.

Then was then, now is now was the exact phrase used. Dwelling in the past to join/merge with the present for achieving wholeness proved detrimental rather than beneficial.

I have general memories like a blanket that embraces me with love and kindness. Some memories are mere snapshots of the past but meaningful just the same.

I wish to learn about my childhood prior to the trauma that occurred near my 16th birthday. Extreme trauma is sometimes responsible for schizophrenia and it is likely trauma caused schizophrenia in me.

I‘ve had 3 psychotic events that wiped away my mind and memories. Like a newborn I had to start over with no recall of basic living skills or the ability to make decisions.

What kind of a kid was I beyond my parent’s supervision and authority? Who was I that I might become acquainted with after all of these years? Am I the same person as before?
I love a good mystery but as the main character in this story, will the past complete the present or is this but one of many chapters to ponder?
