Who gets migraines?

It’s been years since I had one, but it nailed me today! 😖

I felt ok when I first got up, but within an hour I was experiencing blind spots and shortly after the left side of my head started to throb, I felt nauseous and the light through the window was killing me. I texted my client and told her I was out for the day and we’d figure out an alternate schedule.

Then I did what I’ve always done….drew the blinds in my room, pulled out the ibuprofen and Tylenol (I alternate between Tylenol and ibuprofen during an attack) buried my head under a pillow to further reduce the light, and hunkered down and tried to sleep.

My migraines typically don’t last longer than 24 hours. This one has lasted 12 so far. I just got up a bit ago…waiting to see if the symptoms start over like they did at lunch time, or if they’ve finally backed off.

I'm grateful I don't get full on migrants but I've had some bad headaches.
I cut down on dark chocolate and they're gone.
I still get a slight one now and then during allergy season.
Hope you feel better very soon!

You probably need magnesium and potassium. Also feverfew helps dramatically!
I'm serious!
Oh, No red wine, no popcorn, not so much chocolate.

Yes, I suffer from migraines, daily, considered chronic migraines. I have been under treatment for about 11 years. They made me got to the dentist, opthamologist, psychiatrist, ENT then finally to the neurologist. Ct scans, MRI's, EMG's. Many a medications that made me feel even worse.

I was having botox, 200 mgs, all over my head every 3 months for about twelve years. I finally went to an orthopedist, Have a bad neck, bulging disks and damaged nerves on the left and right side. They have me on muscle relaxers and antiinflammatories. I still have pain everday but find this new treatment better than what I have had in the past

It has me limited in the things I can do. The muscle relaxer causes dizziness and fatigue. I could not get things done before because of pain so I am happy to know when I can get things done. I am mostly limited to about 15 minutes of moving around. I have learned to schedule things during that time and sit down when I get tired.

I do take Xanax as needed, when the pain gets too much. I would prefer a opoid pain killer but doctors are afraid of prescribing those. It does make me angry that doctors are now limited in how they can take care of a patient when needed.

Haven't had in ages..
Only 2 ever..at different times
Due to.."that change in life"
Really debilitating..
And..of course, bed rest...
Glad..that's all over.

I’ve had 2 in my life. One when I was a kid and I got some type of virus, and later when I was in school, worked nights , had exams AND was maid of honour for the long weekend. Killer headache, dizzy, nauseous. Light and noise was not well tolerated.

I knew a migraine was coming when it was unbearably bright on a really dismal overcast day. Ergotamine was the most effective medicine for me. To avoid taking it for years I’d start by taking too many Tylenol. I had no clue that was bad for me. I was better off being as high as a kite on the ergotamine.

Have had them my entire life. In recent years I have also developed vertigo and dizziness with my migraines. Horrible especially when trying to hold down 2 jobs and just get through the day.

I had migraines all of my life till i went through the menopause , they lasted 3 days at a time ,in fact I had more days with than without , I tried to work through them but as they went on they got worse to the point of throwing up , I pity anyone who suffers from them , they are debilitating.

Who gets migraines?

Talk to @Gary O' he helped me with mine.
Had 'em all my life
As a small child I had to go to a dark room and bury my forehead into a cool pillow
That'd help some.....untill I released the pillow
When it'd be even worse

As an adult, I just OD'd on pain killers
Helped some....not really
Wife could tell when I had one by my eyes and furrowed brow

A few years ago, my wife read an article to me
Nitrates can be a factor
Whoa
Big factor for me
Lived on hotdogs
Hotdogs are filled with nitrates
Went to nitrate free processed meats

No more headaches
none
zip
zilch
ever

I feel your pain, I started having them as a young teen and they were just awful and I finally found a doctor that put me on inderal and they stopped. I saw many many many doctors and inderal was just a blessing to me.I would have to leave work and get shots to be put to sleep in many cases. I rarely get them now they all but stopped after menopause and if I do I take tylonol pm and go to sleep. A very cold cloth to my temple helps too.
