Synthetic human embryos

Why do I feel a chill clutch at my heart when I read about this? Because given time, science can now be as God. If so, it means finding out the anguish that God must feel when he views us His greatest creation. Look at us! The most fearsome dangerous destructive living thing on this planet. We destroy everything including each other, yet we have the capacity for highest good and worst evil.

When, not if, synthetic humans are created, it will cause massive ethical issues. Meanwhile, such embryos could be grown for spare parts! I have a vivid imagination but we do not know what goes on.

@Rose65, When i read your post, I had the same feeling! An icy chill up my spine!
This will have to be heavily regulated if it comes about.
Technology is speeding ahead of spirituality, which should concern everyone.

But, I feel we are FAR from God's greatest creation. I think we are lowly creatures
on an extremely lowly world. Agree with you that we, as humans, destroy
everything including each other though. We need a giant leap in evolution!

It's coming, we may be able to slow it but probably not stop it. It does raise a lot of ethical issues, including abortion related.

From what I read, we have a long way to go before they start using them for growing babies. Animal research has been unsuccessful in producing such results.

I am sure you are right, but I think the time will come. Scientific advancements like this often sneak up on us.

I think it probably will be in the US and most western countries, but no so sure about other countries, China in particular. And regulating something like this rationally is hard, we are not very good at it.

give humans a chance to play "god" ; reign supreme [supposedly] and design a perfect world? then as always we will be in big trouble and only God can fix it!!

Absolutely. I often think God looks at this earth, at us his pride and joy, and he must feel so depressed. Look what we do, all the killing, the destruction. It's like watching your children fighting each other. We destroy the very earth we were given.
So, if we create humans who have no parents, we must consider their welfare and legal status. Just like if a robot developed consciousness. I remember the book and film 'The Bi-Centennial Man'. It was brilliant.
