Would you rather eat out, or eat in?

When I'm hungry all I want is food- any kind of food. I'm your basic meat and potatoes guy. To me, there's little difference in eating at Mickey D's, or a 5star restaurant. It's all going to the same place. I'm just happy nuking something at home. Yet, I know some people, who would kill to get a seat at a famous chef's five star eatery.
Would you rather eat out, or eat in? Why?

The only reason I like to eat out is that it means I don't have to cook. My husband always prefers eating out -- Burger King, Pizza Hut, any chinese restaurant where he can get fried rice. Nothing I make at home seems to compare with these fine dining establishments.

Definitely IN!
Better food!
Better atmosphere!
Better entertainment!
Know exactly how the food is made and what’s in it.!
More comfortable chairs!
Private washroom!
Can wear whatever I want!
The company of my dogs?
I enjoy cooking.

Why would I want to eat out?

Absolutely home for me... and it doesn't matter what it is as long as it tastes good. I've never understood the draw to the expensive places. My sister ate at Paula Deen's restaurant in Savannah years ago and I don't think she appreciated that I pointed out I could have bought a week's worth of groceries with what she spent on a quick lunch. šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

I rarely eat out as it is such expense. I like cooking, I'm happiest with simple food. I object to paying high prices for restaurant and takeaway food.

I enjoy fine dining and I mean fine dining. Just because a restaurant charges high prices doesn't necessarily mean you're going to get a first-rate meal. I know exactly where to go to find an exceptional meal if and when the spirit moves me, but I have to be in the mood to drop some cash. These days, it doesn't happen that often. I'd actually rather eat at home.

I don't enjoy nor do I eat fast food. I enjoy cooking and can make a much better meal in my own kitchen. It doesn't have to be fancy. Sometimes just a burger or grilled cheese and soup will hit the spot.

Exactly. I don't like fast food either.

Eating out has to be something really good, or a cuisine I don't know how to prepare correctly. It's an expense, tho'.

When working I traveled a lot, and ate out a lot. Maybe I got jaded but I usually found the food pretty mediocre. I do enjoy the experience of good company at a good restaurant, one that takes time. I can think of three exceptional places I always go back to when I can.

Lon's in Phoenix - https://www.hermosainn.com/paradise-valley-restaurants-fine-dining/paradise-valley-az-restaurants

GW Fins in New Orleans, always take some of my catch there to be cooked, an amazing sea food place - https://gwfins.com/

and the Columbia in Tampa - https://www.columbiarestaurant.com/

I have also had some amazing meals in Europe, Switzerland, France, and Italy in particular. Though Europe also has its share of mediocre.

But 90+% of the time I eat at home and am happy with it.

I used to prefer to eat out but as time has passed, I've become more and more leery about how food is being handled in restaurants. One thing I loved about my husband, he also loved to eat out and we did so several times a week. I hate to cook and after late hours at his store, he often didn't know what he wanted. I told him I was no short order cook so we became the "diner king and queen". Plus I like being served. New Jersey is known for its diners and what better way to have many meals to choose from. I still love eating out every now and then and enjoy treating close family members from time to time.

I prefer eating at home. I like to cook & usually make too much which results in our own "fast food" in the freezer for later. I also collected scratch recipes that are quick to put together. There are only a few restaurants we really like & have stayed consistent & none of them are a chain.

Most of the fast food places lack quality anymore, charge too much for what they serve & don't change their oil often enough. The indigestion isn't worth it for me nowadays.

I'm not a great cook, but I cobble together some decent meals for us at night. I would prefer to eat in for dinner. We only eat out for lunch on the days my partner is off work. We like to try different restaurants each time. We've found some great Mexican, Barbecue, Chinese and Thai restaurants close by. These are dishes I would even try to make at home.

I enjoy eating out about once or twice a week depending on what else is going on. The reason is not so much the quality of food but the experience of socializing and being around others who are doing the same thing I'm doing. Eating a meal, people watching and generally having an enjoyable outing. There's no one else at home so for any kind of social connection, I have to go out and participate with the rest of society. I see that as part of a healthy lifestyle :)

Depends, but generally speaking, in. Dave took over the cooking when he retired, and when he’s og a mind to, he can put on a fabulous meal. Then again, sometimes he phones it in, but that might have been the case when I was chef, so… Even when it’s simple, it’s usually better than restaurant fare, and waaaay cheaper.
