Another "Doctor's Office Drives Me Crazy" post....

I had an appointment at a specialist's office for early July. I just got a call from the office that the doctor won't be in that day and my appointment needs to be rescheduled.

OK, not the end of the world, I guess. When can I reschedule, I ask, thinking maybe the next week. Oh, we're booking appointments in October, they say. October? Why do I have to wait til October? Especially when they're the ones who canceled?

I'm told I can call every day to see if there are cancelations.

So, I have an appointment now for late October and I guess I'll be calling a lot. Hmmmmph.

It's like that all over today.

I would think the responsibility would be on them to notify you if a cancellation.

I think it was just easier to reschedule everybody when there were very few appointments- a blank month. I had this happen several times. I find it hard to believe that there's not one open appointment in three months.

Yep .. had an appt. in May that I had to cancel. Next appt. is Oct. 31st. Good thing it's just for my annual
check-up.

Yep, it's all over unfortunately. Huzz has got a friend from high school who lives in Silicon Valley, a high tech area which you'd think would be just full of doctors, etc. and he says it's the same way: takes him months to get an appointment for anything medical-related.

The least they could do is put you on a cancellation list, jujube. I’d call and see if they have one. If you don’t need a referral from your GP, maybe try another specialist.
