Anyone Play Chess on this Forum?

This game is about over. You cant take the knight or its mate in three. If queen runs then NxN. If BxN (best) then Bg6. This followed by Qh5. Mate follows on the back rank.

Sounds about right. I'll concede.

You're just too strong for me at this point. I'll try to practice up and maybe we'll have another rumble down the road. Nice chess playing! :)

I'll play you any time! Its been a pleasure meeting you and playing against you! If you want to practice or improve your chess skills, chess.com offers a great way to do that! I play against chess.com 'bots' that have a chess ELO rating that is slightly greater than my own, approximately 1900 ELO. I consider it a good matchup if I can win one out of three against the 'Li' bot that is rated ELO 2000. During my youth I was a USCF 'Expert' (ELO 2000 equivalent) and was Arizona Junior Chess Champion in 1959. I've been playing chess since about age 9.

I've seen your posts. You are smart. You can learn to play chess! Chess is as laid back or as competitive as you want it to be. Chess is fun! Chess players are usually very nice and very helpful! Popular Chess streamers like Andrea Botez, Anna Cramling and Dina Belenkaya are definitely not Geeks. Check out their YT videos for some great chess entertainment!

I guess you were talking to me? I just might give that a try...

For Cinnamon.. You can start totally at ground zero by simply going to chess.com and making a free account there. Or you can get a free volunteer chess tutor (me or ??) who will help you get going in a totally informal, no stress, no commitment, no expectation, low key kind of way. I once held several chess clubs and tournaments at the elementary schools where my wife was a teacher then a principal. I never taught kids how to play chess much beyond just showing them the board setup and the ways the pieces move. I found it more useful to have kids simply find a friend and teach each other how to actually play. The kids had a lot more fun learning this way. I only became a 'chess lord' when they asked me specific questions. I suspect the very same principle may apply equally well to 'seniors' learning to play and appreciate chess!

I played a game on chess.com today, my first one for decades, and beat the bot.
Update the next day: I won a second game and they tried to get me to pay to review it.
Plus their first game review was terrible, suggesting many bad moves. That is not a good website.

There are many better chess websites available which are free, for example Chesstempo.com.

Thanks to @sch404, I've continued to play 5 puzzles a day on chess.com for the last 40 days.
Their limit is 5 a day with a free account, but for no apparent reason they only let me do 4 today.
My results so far are 185 puzzles correct and 14 missed, for a total of 199 puzzles and 1940 points.
It's been a way to keep me occupied, but soon enough I will tire of it and move along to something else.
They also have a free "daily puzzle" that I've been doing each day after the other ones that anyone can do.

@Mitch86 - I played a game a day against the computer at first, but then switched to the puzzles.
I'm mostly focused on my exercise, eating, moving around, being healthy, staying out of trouble, and recovery.

@sch404 - Maybe they start the puzzles at 5 and then switch to 3 a day, which will be fine with me anyway.
The puzzle points are points not a rating. My score's been advancing daily and my current percentage is 93.1%.
There are several people with 65540 points, which must be the maximum. They start at 400 and gradually go higher.
Natalia Lubicka <-- has a current percentage of 97.6% with maximum points and she keeps doing more of them, wow!

John, pay the annual fee and then you can play chess games with someone within 25 points of your rating 24/7. You have to specify that in your settings. I play 2 or 3 games there every day. I am also age 88 and retired now for 18 years.

To John:
I'm glad you are playing chess on Chess.com! I've been on that site since Jan 1 of this year. My current puzzle rating is 2826. I only have a free account which gives me everything I need. The free account lets me have 3 rated puzzles per day plus the daily puzzle which is not rated. I play against the bot called Li which is rated at ELO 2000, the level I had obtained back in my late twenties, some 50+ years ago! I'm surprised to hear the analysis of your game was not accurate. Chess.com is IMHO the very best chess web site I've ever seen. If you want free analysis of your game there are several very strong chess engines that will do that very nicely. I use the one called Arena. It also enables playing over the board with another remote person from anywhere at all. I used it recently to play a SF member named BEEZER.
