A woman says she had to rescue her 'panicking' elderly neighbour who was trapped inside her own apartment - after a Yodel delivery driver 'jammed a parcel under her door handle'.

Charlie Clarke claims she heard neighbour Dee shouting for help from the flat below on Thursday.

This is what the neighbour found propped up against the lady's door..

Worst of all , The parcel wasn't even for the lady whose door was blocked with it..

Yodel's been ranked third-worst for the last two years and has now been rated worst overall in our fourth annual poll, with 57% of users saying their experience of the company was poor. Yodel couriers are paid as little as 80p per parcel and there is no weekly guarantee on offer.
There is a derogatory expression that comes to mind. "When you pay peanuts you get monkeys!"

This is outrageous I hope the woman calls the CEO of that company. What if something bad had happened and she needed to get out?

I have seen locks that only operate in one direction, I have no idea why that would be, but it wasn't just a one of. Would folks living in the UK comment if that is something they have encountered before?

The door handle on my front and back doors, lock when they're pulled UP... they only open when the handle is pulled down...

:) Often, when we consider ourselves wronged, the blame can be traced right back to us. Having only one means of exit is never acceptable.
Well very difficult to have more than one means of exit when you live in an apartment building.... it's funny how victims always seem to get the blame for their abusers

We'll just disagree on that.

People who have only one exit might appreciate some suggestions now, before they need them.

I see a mail slot on that door. If mail will go through it from the outside maybe something would come through from the inside and push that box over.

Is that really victim blaming? There are other things that could be a problem with only one exit.
I do believe (at least in my state) an apartment needs to have at least two exits, even if one is a fire escape. It's in the codes. I also saw another write-up about this story that said the woman "would have called the fire brigade" if they wouldn't have heard her yelling, so yep, has a phone. I may be more cynical than many people, but I'm thinking maybe the "rescuer" who immediately ran to social media after taking a picture may have "embellished" a tad.

yep ..if only she'd known there was a box there she might have thought of that.. but I'm sure in her panic she just thought her door handle wasn't working and she couldn't get out .The other thing is many letterboxes.. including mine have a stiff bristle effect inside..so it's impossible to see through the mailbox to the outside... so again.. she may have looked.. and couldn't see anything... who knows..

how can you embellish a box against a door handle ? Clealr y the woman was calling for help because the box was blocking her door ( albeit she didn't know what it was at the time )

Read this one. Look at that big smile. "She was fine and I managed to rescue her" And the lady wasn't really panicking ... walked out to her patio and called up to see if the neighbor could open her door. This isn't victim blaming, this is calling out an attention seeker. That smile. Good gracious.
