Sorry Feywon, I didn’t mis-read anything. I just think you have the wrong end of the stick, so to speak. You say “
our Facial Recognition process causes pareidolia.” To be precise and avoid confusion “pareidolia” is the name
given to this phenomenon by a psychiatrist…it is not caused by the facial recognition process.
Seeing things that aren’t there as I said before (e.g. like picture formations in clouds) is not unusual and has been happening since the beginning of time.
Nothing wrong with this sort of imagery, however, for some people these images become signs of something significant… like messages being sent to them from loved ones or predictions.
In the scientific community this is seen as being delusional. According to many researchers, finding meaning in something random is an important factor in the formation of paranormal and delusional beliefs, and has been found to be implicated in vulnerability to schizophrenia. You appear to have read widely, so I am sure you are aware of this.
I have to be brief, running off to play a game of chess with the hubby.
With regard to "limitations" ...yes we do suffer limitations due to serious injury barring that, our senses are very reliable. As a matter of fact, many people have not fully utilised their other senses.
We can talk more tomorrow if you like, but may I make a respectful observation. When writing technical jargon...it is always better to keep it as simple as possible so that one can be easily understood.
