Well you know you better than I know you and some people have zero sex appeal. I can relate.
Years ago I had a really good male friend. We got along great. Then I discovered he liked me romantically and I had to end the friendship otherwise I’d feel like I was taking advantage of him which is too bad cause he was a really nice guy. It can get awkward so can relate.

those type of classes around here usually have a membership of about 3...:LOL:

yep...we have had many dogs in this family... still got some.. Rarely any men, except the very elderly will stop and talk it's mostly women...

That sounds just like this forum where 50 is considered to be a senior citizen old enough to join. In the US at least, 50 is not usually old enough to retire. 55 is considered early retirement though still not eligible for Social Security where early retirement is age 62 and full retirement is age 67.

There's a good 30 year span and more among members of this forum and that could be true of senior dating sites, as well. There are major differences between those born in the previous decade and boomers. To widen the differences even the oldest of Generation X are eligible to be here now.

No advice for you, Hollydolly. Just an observation on senior life which I have found fascinating since I've been here. :giggle:

yes I've always said the same thing about the massive age difference in what are construed to be 'seniors'.. my daughter is 47 just 3 years from 50.. for all intents and purposes online anyway. She will in 3 years be deemed a senior... you couldn't get anyone who looks less like a senior.. she's constantly been mistaken for being in her late 20's.. . She'd be eligible to join this and similar forums, but she would have no more in common with a 90 year old than she would a 15 year old ...

I OTOH.. have always preferred the company of older people as friends ( not as partners) .. so I was very comfortable joining this forum in my 50's.. and British ones prior to that at age 50...

On the Dating sites I've looked at for seniors.. some have specific ages.. 50-59.. 60-69-- 70 plus etc...

The numbers decline in the oldest group so they probably have to broaden the scope a bit to have enough participants. :oops:

Holly, the man next door met his girlfriend on a dating site. That being said something to be determined right from almost the very start is that if you do find someone you like then keep in mind that distance between where you live and he lives could affect an outcome if it should get serious.

After almost a year of dating with these two travelling every few days back and forth from his town to her town an hour and a half one way they have now reached a point where one wants a more permanent relationship in ONE town. He is not opposed to the idea of permanent but He is not budging and not going to move, neither is she. I can see this falling apart shortly and they have wasted a year.

I have thought myself of getting back in the game, so interested in what happens with you. Try the grocery store, just yesterday someone tried to pick me up when I was trying to pick a pineapple.
 
I met most of my dates on Match.Com. At least on that site, you could tell if they were checking in or not.

I tried E.Harmony for a couple of months but you had no idea whether they were active or hadn't checked in in six months. I had a few dates with one fellow I had met on Match.Com and I got a notification from E.Harmony that we were "matched". I mentioned it to him and he was surprised, as he had only joined a year ago for one of their "free" weekends and had never gone back. So, I was being "matched" with invalid matches.

I actually met The Spousal Equivalent on PlentyofFish, which is a free service but absolutely dreadful for seniors. Since it was free, I thought I'd scan around and recognized him from another dating site that I hadn't joined. So I "winked" at him and the rest is history. Lots and lots of it.

In Bobcat's defense, 20 miles is nothing in Calif....or anywhere else in the US.

My experience with dating sites runs the full gamut, from awesome to downright scary.

But I didn't actually ever meet Downright Scary in person. She haunted me online for years after I told her to stop contacting me....I found out she was married. So, not counting her, I'll change that to from awesome to a total waste of time.

My only advice is, avoid new immigrants. The reason is obvious, I'm sure.

Other than that, a) heed your inner voice, and, b) have fun. I mostly had good times.

Oh, also, c) now and then, go ahead and accept invitations to places or events you've never had much interest in but never actually tried before. For one thing, sharing it with someone who knows more about it, you might find a new interest, and for another, if it's something he's really into, there's an excellent chance you'll see him with his guard down, pretenses gone, being his true self.

:giggle: Yes... my daughter is 38 and says she *may* think about considering herself to be a "senior" when she's 70, but it's not written in stone. I wouldn't even *dare* remind her that some places will consider her a senior just 12 years from now. :LOL:

Oh but, maybe, if you met some single, dog walking lady friends, you could arrange nights out where you would meet other people or, even some weekends away. Gal pals are really good to have. :)

We are a doggie family.. we have had dogs for many years. we never meet any woman with a dog much less a lot of them who have ever mentioned they are single much less interested in getting up a group f people to go away for weekends. :ROFLMAO: I live in a rural area, everyone walking their dogs are quite old people.....

20 miles is nothing here as long as you're heading North, East or West and not South into London... then it may be only 20 miles but depending on the traffic on a regular day it can often take 4 hours to reach your destination , I'm not kidding... ...plus every nut lives in London.. :sneaky:
