I'm very practical minded and I wanted a desktop that I don't mind having all the time. So why not a calendar. Plain BG so I can actually see the Desktop Icons.

I have the free image editing software called The GIMP. If you set up a folder with images called "Splashes", each time you start The GIMP, it displays a random image from the Splashes folder. So that's how I enjoy an ever rotating display of favorite pictures. I have to start GIMP at least once every day so I can change the yellow, highlighted date.
