Odd animal soulmates.

My daughter actually had to buy her chow a kitten, when they moved and he missed his little kitty pal (the neighbor's kitten) so badly.
My first Chow went out and found her own kitten, a feral stray living in the neighbors barn, probably about 10-12 weeks old. She insisted on bringing it in the house to sleep with. Interesting times til it calmed down.

We have long been a multi pet household, usually more cats than dogs, but almost always at least canine and usually all get along and some bond very strongly across species lines. All our cats get on well with my Grand dog, Zoe, but my two tabbies really adore her. Especially the male tabby who loves her, plays with her and will nap near her.

EDIT: Should mention that especially when thunderstorms or snowstorms at least one cat will sit at window watching over Zoe (who is on a long lead so can't get lost) until we bring her back inside.

Whenever i need a mood lifter, i watch YouTube videos of Animal 'odd couples'. One of my favorites was the one about the Lion, Tiger and Bear Trio who were together in an animal sanctuary for 14 yrs till the Lion died. The other two grieved--no surprise--my furbabies have generally mourned each other and i've had to watch make sure some of them ate they were so heartbroken.
Then there's Tarra and Bella--the elephant and dog who met at a sanctuary in Tennessee. When the dog got injured and was confined the elephant patiently waited outside for her friend to return. She had acres she could have roamed, with other elephants but she wanted her friend. Finally one of the workers had the sense to carry the dog outside so they could greet each other. They did this until the dog was well enough to run free again.

More recently stumbled across this crew, there's several of them

Love that story and the video would make anyone smile. That cat is so accommodating, and apparently the ducklings have adopted it as their mother.
