Upstairs neighbours were arguing again

The male is a FIFO worker. Away for 2 weeks, home for 2 weeks.
Every time he comes home his lady friend gives him a tongue lashing which goes on for over an hour.
Every time.
Last night was no different though it did seem a little heavier this time.
I can never make out the words that are being said but I got the gist that he might be asking her to leave. She was crying a lot.
After an hour or so things went totally quite. Nothing. I thought they might have gone out.
No idea. But it is not a happy household.
Really sad to be truthful, to listen to this bickering every time he comes home.

I know it's distressing to hear neighbors arguing especially if it's on a regular basis, but there's not much you can do about it. You can only guess about what's causing it. Hopefully there's no physical abuse going on.

From what I hear, there is no physical abuse. Really sad to hear her crying.
Why can't people enjoy each others company?

What’s almost as bad as upstairs arguments to apartment dwellers are the, err, love sounds that may be heard when spouses wax amorous, or singles are “entertaining” guests. I was never so glad to move into a detached house for this reason, not requiring an audio education…🙀

I had an apartment once where my living room wall adjoined the master bedroom of apartment next door.

A middle aged couple moved in and on a regular basis I could hear them in muffled conversation at night when they went to bed but the best thing was when they were having...umm.. shall I call it , their 'happy time'....much whoopin' and hollerin'...at least once a week.
Delightful couple. I missed them when they decided to buy a house again and moved away.

What’s a FIFO worker?
I’m sorry you are having problems with your neighbours. Maybe they will work things out. If not, maybe you could politely ask if they could keep the noise down.

I have no idea what a FIFO worker is. According to Google, it's some kind of manufacturing program????
My upstairs neighbors were always screaming at one another, till he threw her down the steps and the landlady told them to leave. After they left, I saw their apt. All the drywall between the bedroom and living room was removed-only the studs were left!!!!!!!!!

That is distressing to listen to. I started a thread here awhile back about the people downstairs. He was yelling at her last night. I heard a lot of f. bombs and "your a liar." Probably pure projection on his part. But she stays.

FIFO. Fly in, fly out jobs. Usually for 2 - 4 weeks. This is common for work up north in the mines, pipelines, etc. Good pay!

At least that’s how I think Bretrick is using it.

Though the money is really good, it can be hard on family dynamics.

Sorry you have to listen to this, Bretrick.

Fly in Fly out. The worker usually lives in the city. The work site is 100s/1000s of kms away. Each rotation the worker catches an early morning flight to the mine site. Accommodation is provided by the employer via Dongas'

Oh! Well this isn’t good news for you.
Maybe take a couple of coffees or a couple of beers and go up and talk to just him. Bringing the drinks is reassuring him that you have good intentions. Get to know the guy and after a while just before leaving, let him know that you can’t help but hear him and his partner. I think the less you say about that , the better. Hopefully things will improve some.
I’m just trying to be helpful.

Thank you for the advice.
She is always there when he is home.
I know him well but bringing up such matters is fraught with...
That’s ok if she’s home. Still just bring 2 coffees and ask to speak with him only. Man to man. I’d say something. Situations like this usually only get worse without some type of intervention. It will be good for them also.

Even detached houses have their, how shall I say? Distractions? That's polite. We are still in touch with friends from London. Neighbours close to them have redecorated their house. Thank goodness I live over a hundred miles south of them, even a hundred miles is a bit close when you see their colour scheme.
