A slight cultural difference in Canada. Potato CHIPS are found in the supermarket, in bags. FISH AND CHIPS are cooked fish fillets, in a beer batter, and deep French fried potato CHIPS, that should be made from double fried Russet potatoes, from our Atlantic Province of Prince Edward Island.
A long time ago, as a 20 year old Canadian, travelling alone on the Dog from Detroit to LA, I made the mistake of ordering "chips and gravy " in a west Texas bus stop diner. I wanted hot french fries, with beef gravy on them..........I GOT Lays potato chips out of a bag, with white biscuit gravy on them!!! A cultural difference, to be sure. That was also the first time I ever saw a hamburger in a waxed paper bag, to catch the grease drippings. JimB.
