We have dry brown areas in our beautiful St. Augustine grass. 😔

I bought 4 bags of good soil at Home Depot yesterday.
Had my son spread it out and water it. I will need to get 4 or 5 more bags
to cover the area. I need to get a new sprinkler also.
Is anyone having a problem with brown patches?

I'm not familiar with St. Augustine myself as I don't have that variety in my lawn but I did come across an article about why St Augustine grass can turn yellow. Hope it helps you.

Not sure if this variety of grass reacts to heat and sun like other grasses by going dormant during times of high stress then comes back when conditions are more favorable? I know Kentucky Bluegrass & ryegrass do this most summers here in the north anyway.

Most grass, not all, will go dormant during heat waves with lack of rain. It will probably start coming back at the end of this autumn. If not, for certain, next spring. The top soil will help once it starts growing in again.
