This is his is one of the most remarkable things I have read in a long time.

"In 1941, during the throes of World War II, Elsie exchanged vows with her husband, Bill, and the couple made a decision that would shape their lives forever—they chose to remain in the house that held generations of memories. “My dad died in 1949, and we finally bought the house in the 1960s,” Elsie recollects. The modest residence, now valued at £75,000, was initially acquired for a mere £250 with the help of a loan, a testament to their deep-rooted commitment."

I can't imagine liking a place that much that you'd want to stay there that long. I wish that'd happened for me (or anyone I've ever known) but grew up and have always lived in areas where most couldn't afford anything even halfway decent so it's been a real culture of moving a lot.

@MarkinPhx, How are you holding up in the several days of extreme temperatures? You all right?
@Gaer I'm doing OK. Thanks for asking. The main discomfort comes from the lows at night being only in the 90's. There is no relief at all but hopefully the seasonal storms will start up soon to help cool things off some. Tucson got an inch of rain last night so that is encouraging. I hope you are doing well where you are and hope things break soon for both of us !

I can't imagine the stability of living in the same house you were born in and you're over a hundred. No wonder she's lived so long! :giggle:
