What are you listening to in 2023?

It says not available in my country Holly, there have been some of your songs recently that couldn't be viewed, by me anyway.
If your viewing on a PC, you can right click on it and select copy video url or link. Then paste it into the address bar of your browser. You often can see the name of what was posted and then copy and the name into the YouTube search bar to find a video version to listen to.

Here is a link to my favorite BLACK singers;

These songs make me think a lot of our (America) terrible mistreatment of our African blacks and our Native Indians. We enslaved 6 million blacks and murdered 15 million Indians. I always ask the question: why have we no Holocaust Museum dedicated to these two groups we horribly mistreated. What we did make the Nazis look like angels.

I have read a lot about the Nazi Holocaust in Europe and it appears that it was INTENTIONALLY done by Nazi Germany to try and build a "super" power just like the USA.

As a barbershopper, this gold medal winning chorus performance at the recent Barbershop Harmony Society International competition.
Remember, these are just regular guys who love to sing and meet once a week for that enjoyment. There are a couple of inside jokes about the judges, but I think you will enjoy. The Ambassadors of Harmony from St. Charles, Missouri.

I bought the album shown below because of this one song. When I first looked for it on YT a couple of years ago, I couldn't find it. I was so happy to find it there recently. It's been stuck in my head the last few days.

That's what we called "Cool Jazz" in my youth. I know that I hated it at first but since all my contemporaries liked it, I played it until I liked it as well! Talk about being a conformist! I still hate myself for wanting so hard to be part of the crowd! :)

It is very cool and mellow! Sometimes music is an acquired taste...so you acquired good taste! :D Don't hate yourself for that! BTW...we were discussing your dislike of Rap. I meant to tell you, though I do like and appreciate some of it, I absolutely hate Jamaican Rap. It grates on my nerves every time I hear it so I understand how you feel about avoiding listening to Rap.

:LOL: We had so many things in common that it was a shock that you seemed to like the positive kind of rap! I have a problem with every kind, not only for the reasons mentioned earlier in another post, but because I cannot understand a single word of any rap "music!" Honestly! I wouldn't know if it's Gangsta or Positive or Jamaican, to me it has always been (with malice and prejudice against the genre) "mediocre poetry set to a beat!" I was mostly upset that "good music" had not become mainstream again for the past forty years! I thought at the time that rap wouldn't last a month! Who in heaven's name would listen to THAT? :)

And I know at the same time that I am being terribly unfair in my dislike of the genre! Surely "Rolling Stones" magazine would not praise "mediocre" lyrics. The lyrics you quoted in another post were beautiful and poignant, so if that is ever published I would love to hear it, with close captioning, that is! (y):)

Thank you again for your compliment about my honorary son's lyrics. I have the MP3 (provided by my son) but they never released the song. I ain't mad at you because you don't like Rap...you are certainly not alone. Not only Rolling Stone, but the great Quincy Jones embraced Rap and included it in at least one of his songs. He has a knack for bringing artists of different genres together for a project. Don't worry...we still have a lot in common. :D

I thought I didn't like Opera...until I heard this song. My son and I saw The Fifth Element in the theater and I knew I had to have the soundtrack because I like all the songs. This is one of my favorites. Inva Mula's range is incredible! She is an Albania Opera singer, as were her parents. It was originally thought that no human could perform this song. BTW...that was the most $$ I ever paid for a CD.
