What State Were You Born In & What State(s) Did You Move To?

Mr. R and I were both born in California.Lived there for 73 and 71 years and then moved to Idaho two years ago. Do I miss California? Yes,we lived in a particularly beautiful part of California and now live in a part of Idaho that is not even close to being as pretty. But here we are and we will stay. Mr.R does love it here.

Born in Saskatchewan, moved to Alberta, then to Vancouver .. at age 20, came to Toronto. After a decade of
back & forth between Toronto and South Australia, I'm here (Toronto) to stay.
Having experienced working and living in Both countries, Pinks why did you ultimately choose Canada.. ?

Born/grew up in S California; moved my junior year in high school to Upstate NY (loved it there)… married, lived in Maine and South Carolina while in the Navy. Moved to Georgia after then-husband got out of Navy, been here ever since. Of course in the last few years I did travel nursing and stayed for 3-6 months in several states.

re Pepper's Post #33: Are you from Vancouver Island? I was born and raised in Nanaimo BC. My great grandparents immigrated to Vancouver Island from China in the late 1800's.

Pepper: Are you from or do you have friends/relatives in Nanaimo?

Loved Corpus Christi
Headed down there to help clean up after a hurricane
Gorgeous town
Only odd thing, most us folks lived on the beach and most the boats were downtown
Quite the blow

They've had couple of really bad.ones. We lived in the Flour Bluff area, between city proper and the beaches for many years. In summer kids and i would go out to beach real early swim, play, collect shells and we'd all have had enough by time lots of other people were arriving.

My childhood in in Florida was spent in a riverbank home, ear where the river flowed in to southern end of Tampa Bay making it a short sail to the Gulf. I love big bodies of water. But in midlife developed health issues that made dryer climates better for my health. Fortunately by then i'd lived in Hawaii and discovered i loved mountains as much as the sea.

The summer spent caring for terminally ill Dad in Tampa played hell with my health. When the hospice people showed up to talk about giving husband, daughter and i time out together as a family i looked so worn they got confused because paperwork said patient male so it's been mountains for me ever since.

The family home in London had been flattened in WW2, my parents were living temporarily in a relatives house in the city of Bristol, that's where I came into the world. Mine was a breech birth and I have been arse about face for most of my life.
Well, at least you're a stylish arse! :ROFLMAO:
@hollydolly I didn't realize you weren't British until a couple of months ago!
@Ronni I have a cousin who's been living in Huntsville with her family for several years.
@Brookswood and @fuzzybuddy Ya'll gave me a good laugh! :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: Thank you.

I'm so New York City I can be a caricature for it. Although living over 25 years elsewhere; with a great preference for olde England & New I'm a native New Yorker and I love to complain about my city alongside my fellow NYers. It's a mess out there but also gorgeous & exciting! The noise is killing me though; constant neverending sirens is making me yearn for some quiet but I can't up & move due to no car/money and need/want to live where my tiny family is. At least they are able to enjoy city life--Broadway, Parks, restaurants, Museums, and they have a car for 'escapes.'

Born Long Island NY, Navy, ship based first in Norfolk VA area, then moved to San Diego. Back to Long Island, then moved to New Joisey, then moved to Florida, 5 different towns, Kids grew up and went to the Pacific Northwest. We looked at the PNW cost of living and weather and said NO. We retired and moved to Arizona. Close enough to visit the kids plus explore the sights in the west. Now back in Florida to stay.

I have visited 48 states, although Hawaii was still a territory when I went there. Been to 6 provinces in Canada, 8 states in Mexico, 18 countries and some places that are not big enough to be nations.

Born in Iowa. Raised in Nebraska. Reside in Texas. Call Nebraska home.

Air Force and Army bounced me around a bit here and there. Never long enough to put down any roots - other than Nebraska.

Hols, the marriage in Oz didn't work out .. my daughter is here in Toronto, so, it wasn't a hard choice to make.
...sorry about that Pinks, shame you had to leave ... but comparing both countries, as countries alone .. which would you say is the most beautiful ?... if you weren't Canadian.. and lived in the UK.. and could only choose one to visit.. which would it be ?
