What are you going to do with all your stuff?

I was blessed with a work life that took me abroad a lot of the time. I worked and lived in the US, Australia, Germany. This had the effect of making me "travel light". Still, I have a sizable music collection, some books. What will happen to those? Frankly, I don't much care. Their value to me will be gone once my last breath is drawn. I'd like them to go to someone who values the music, and not the worth in terms of $'s, but the reality is I won't be around to care.

So I intend to enjoy as much as I can in my remaining time, the future will go on without me.

I got rid of 90% of my possessions years ago. I am a minimalist. It is totally freeing. The less I own the happier I am.
I admire you for what you've accomplished. That is my goal as well. I have sold off 90% of my stuff at an estate sale, and now my home is up for sale. When it sells, I will be a free agent with no ties to property. I will truly be a minimalist, which is what I really want.

I wish I could get rid of a lot of it. ButDave is kind of a hoarder and I find that guilt is a killer for me. Will grandma haunt me for getting rid of her China? Will my mother spin in her grave if I get rid of her stuff? I’d love to downsize but where to start?

I am looking at all that freedom in my future but not sure what to do with it. What do you have in mind?

I did get rid of a lot when I downsized from my house to here. But, I still have stuff. My books and a couple pieces of old family end tables will go to my niece if she wants. Clothing..Salvation Army. Sometimes, families will have an apartment sale...like a yard sale held right in apartment, assuming I have enough time left on my last month to do it.

Well, at first, I think I will just rent an Air B&B for a month at a time at various locations (Cheaper by the month). Then, if I like it, I will keep doing that. When it gets hot, I will head north, and when it gets cold, I may head south. If it turns out I don't like that, I haven't invested anything, so I will go to plan B and maybe get an RV, and travel. If I don't like that, I have other options available.

Sounds like some short range plans. I guess it is kinda foolish to make a big plan and get stuck with it. thanks for the reality check on future plans, Gotta ditch the stuff first.

We sort of like donating stuff and getting other stuff. Moved from Country home to Burb home close to large city circle. Kept our lake home property. The pandemic sort of hurt a lot but we managed. I keep busy with the 2 places. The grandchildren on weekends are our rewards. Our bucket list is ok. Maybe we might change. Not now. We let the kids move to our country home. The will be able to mortgage it and raise the grand children there on the acreage. Knowing all the details and how it turns out would sort of be boring. Why not write as we live it is a thought.

Even having donated a great deal, there‘re some things that have enough value that I’d like to sell them. This would be best done at a garage sale. Too bad we can’t one in our community. Maybe it’s time to list some in online selling sites again.

Good luck with the sale. It is freeing. I love living with less. :)

Do? I'll be too dead to do anything with it 😂

I've downsized and then downsized again and again. There's very little left, only the "things" that are useful or make me happy. Whatever's left when I'm gone, the kids can divvy up or get rid of.
