This is the Hawk that Dio is caring for. My friend Elspeth (from Scotland) has named him Howard.
Howard was really happy to get a drink from the hose, but at first, he was a bit more reluctant about eating. Dio started to force feed him. Eventually he got the idea and started to take the meat from Dio's fingers. (so far, not fingers have been lost in this process
)
After water, food, and 9 hours of rest, Dio went to see if Howard was ready to move on.
Well, after some encouragement, we saw that Howard could fly fine....he just didn't want to! He left Dio's hand, flew a short distance, landed, and stayed there. Once again, Dio just walked over and picked him up. Next, Dio got out a ladder, and put Howard in a tree. And that is where he stayed. Once it was clear that he didn't want to fly, Dio put Howard back in the cage for the night.
Today, we will continue to feed and water him....hopefully he will finally get tired of us and fly away.
