Cancelled Serius XM Satellite Radio

I cancelled my cable TV subscription, but I still pay for my internet connection. :(
I haven't had TV for about 10 years now. I don't miss it, and I'm glad it's gone. My internet gives me more options, and it's the same price as my satellite TV was costing 10 years ago. At first, I thought there might be a few rare things that I would be missing on TV, but I don't miss anything. That stuff usually shows up on Hulu, anyway. And news, I can just read without having it filtered through some talking head.

Ditto. I dumped cable also, who were handling wifi as well as tv and went with someone else. They're ridiculous
Just before I cancelled I was paying over $200/mo! The price climbed up gradually, and every $20 jump came with another "free" premium channel I'd never watch. So, Comcast-Xfinity is insulting as well as expensive.

I still pay too much for internet, imo. My brother explained how to build an antennae of sorts that would draw it in for free, but its kind of big, it's an eyesore, its reliability is questionable, and I don't want to bother anyway. Plus, Comcast has probably figured out how to block or scramble them by now.

I love my SiriusXM. Have a boom box, a computer app and on my son's car and I love my Howard Stern.
I’ve never heard his show. I don’t know if he was on Sirius when we had the test period.

No place for me to ever hear him. I’ve just heard lots about him.
I've listened to him off and on over the years. He's mellowed a lot - think age and his second wife have had an effect on him. He's one of the best when it comes to interviewing guests. No BS, asks insightful questions, and has compassion for people's pain and struggles.

Howard didn't have an easy life.

They're still at it. Got a letter today for $5 a month but only for 12 months and then the fight to get rid of them starts all over. No thanks!
While the cancellation by chat was not as awful as I thought it would be, it was bad enough, that I don't want to do it again.

When I drive I can't stand the distracting noise from the radio, whether it be mindless 'talk' blather or music. Free Serius XM would not be a selling point for me. The only thing I ever want to hear while driving is the Google Maps navigation voice telling me which way to turn, or if there's a speed trap ahead, etc. ;)
Smart driver! I wish more drivers were like you. I have seen too many starring between their legs where they keep the "smart" phone instead of watching the traffic and the traffic lights.

Radio is a distraction while driving. We don't think of it that way, but when I pay attention to my attention while driving, I have noticed that it is better without the radio, not as bad as the phone or texting, of course, but I can tell a difference.

Sirius has hundreds of channels to choose from. For me, it's all about Howard, but I enjoy all the other benefits.
I never listened to Stern. Mostly I listened to the Blues Channel, and less often, 4 others that played oldies from the 1940s through the 1970s. So I was basically paying for 5 channels.

I used to enjoy the old radio programs on Sirius, comedies like Jack Benny, George & Gracie; dramas like Dragnet and Gunsmoke, etc.

There are book channels with guest authors, readings, so much stuff to choose from! Sports, news, local channels from various locations, you name it!
