National Aviation Day - August 19th

I never heard of this day. This should be a national holiday. I think aviation has made a huge change in our lives and continues to do so. Looking back at the Wright Brothers very first aircraft to what we are flying to day is a huge difference. I have often wondered what they would think if they saw today what they started back in 1903 in Kitty Hawk, NC,

Charles E. Taylor, Mechanic for the Wright Brothers. He hand-built the first engine, that powered the first flight. He was almost forgotten.

I'm a white-knuckler. If god wanted me to fly, she'd have given me wings
If God had been a woman, He might have had Katharine Wright fly the first motor-powered flight, as she was not a white-knuckler. She was the first woman to fly as a passenger, and also received the Legion of Honour Medal while in France, for her unsung help and support that she gave so unselfishly to her Brothers' efforts.

....it was not to be.

"Upon leaving France, the French awarded Katharine and her brothers the Ordre national de la Légion d'honneur."
