The outer rim is the edge of an abalone shell, in the center is a slice of a geode i bought at a rock.shop cause i liked the shades of blue.

I thought the inner was a rock and had no idea of the outer ring.
You placed the rock inside the abalone shell. yes?

Laid the rock on scanner screen and abalone over it. Did previews to center as well as i could. Then put box over it since lid would not close. i had used scanner to do collages of photos previously and that got me thinking about other ways to use it.

Then i discover i was becoming a 'thing', a trend. (This was in early 2000s). If you search 'scanography artists' you'll find links to websites with much better, more beautiful examples than the one above or the one below:

Thanks for showing those. I collect rocks and fossils.

Haven't found any fossils on my land, but we have a wide variety of probably pretty common rocks, that are nonetheless interesting or attractive.
