What food price increase caused you to stop buying

The price of McCormick Curry nearly doubled within a year on Amazon. This is GreedFlation! We get 8% inflation for a short time and prices go up 50 to 100%!

So I found another option at a reasonable price. This what we all need to do!
I don't shop Amazon. With a bit of effort, I can almost always find it much cheaper elsewhere. And I have the time....

We've pretty much given up on Steak. The current prices have nearly doubled, in the past year, over what they used to be. Some of the "cuts" are now nearly $20/lb., and that is just ridiculous. Besides, it is probably better for our health if we cut back on meat.

I'm not keen on Store Brands tbh... I buy occasionally from Lidl..and Aldi.. ( I used to do more shopping in Aldi, but their prices have risen steeply in recent months)... so if I'm going to pay prices in the budget stores that are almost matching the Major supermarkets..then the latter wins and I shop there.. plus the bigger supermarkets have much more variety ergo choice...

I have always bought frozen veg... it's been proven that it maintains the vitamins for very much longer than fresh.. and amazingly pound for pound it's cheaper..

Store brands vary but when I Googled "who makes Great Value (Walmart) products" I found that Peter Pan makes their peanut butter, Sara Lee their cup cakes, etc.

Don't let them in. They'll take over. Admittedly I do shop there. For the prices of necessary things.
They tried a few years ago... they bought out our discount supermarket Asda.....and Asda continued to work under it's own name.. there was no visible changes to the stores...

... no walmart goods being sold there... no changes to the name or sign-age ..unfortunately...... cuz it is a pretty horrible supermarket, pretty downbeat...... and then after a very few years Walmart sold it ... I think they probably thought they couldn't go any lower than they are...then found that with Asda..it was too low....:ROFLMAO:

Sure the price of groceries and the price of restaurant food is going up. Seems to me that the good folks who are not afraid to do some cooking at home will survive any price increases.

However, all those folks who "must" eat out at restaurants all the time will find themselves in deep financial trouble due to the fact that they are constantly living well above their means. Not to mention here that cooking for yourself is way more healthy than eating all those burgers and fries loaded with grease and salt.

It is less expensive and healthier to cook meals at home. My shopping list is based on the weekly specials.

I insist on fresh vegetables/fruit (not cans, dried or frozen).

"Steak" every Satunday and a roast on Sunday is "from the past". Daily, I have meat or chicken with fresh seasonal vegetables stir fry's or a salad - easy "one pot meal". The variation is endless - could be Chinese, Indian or ??? depending on the condiment and sauce.

For the dog, his Kibble, cans and treats are from Costco. I did get the "special" food from the Vet but felt is was "over priced".

I've not stopped what I buy food-wise with the rising prices. I don't eat a lot anyway.
But I baulk at the price of loo roll!
The other week I was nattering to another shopper and having a rant about the cost of the stuff. How can something that wipes one's bum (I was polite) and then gets thrown down the toilet be so expensive! £7.95 for my favourite quilted ones! 😵‍💫 (Sorry, I don't know what that it is in your money).
It's a necessity not a luxury.
And I don't buy newspapers anymore, so can't rip that up and hang it up with string in the b/room for loo use.

Maybe; maybe not. It's just possible that those who eat out at restaurants a lot can afford it. And eating out does not necessarily mean eating cheap fast food — "all those burgers and fries loaded with grease and salt".

you shouldn't really use quilted loo roll it blocks up the Drains..

I buy 3 ply from Costco..40 for under £20... ...my friend gets Lidl toilet rolls 6 for £2.19 she thinks they're good quality for the price..

Exactly...I don't eat out as much as I did before..which was once a week... but I still eat out when I can, and only once in a Blue Blue Moon will I buy a burger

We don't have a takeaway fish and chips now because the price is about £25.00 which is ludicrous.
Wow!! The nearest chippie to me - and one I have used so I know they are good - sell fish and chips at £4.50 (small fish ) £5.10 (med fish) and £6.10 (large fish). All served with medium chips. A couple of other chippies do pensioner specials which are £6.00 for fish, chips, mushy peas and a drink. The most expensive chippie charges £8.00.

that' incredible !

I know you're up North Pam.. and things are often cheaper there, but that's almost 1/2 price....what we're paying here

Yes, I'm aware of that hollydolly, but without going into my bum details, they are what it needs (where's the blushing smiley when you need one) :(

We buy our toilet rolls in packs of 32 from 'Home bargains'. Can't find the receipt to check the price, but I think it's about £10. We don't have Costco here, but don't you have to be a business or VAT registered to use it?

Back in Hampshire we had a large ASDA 'hypermarket' and a smaller one in the local town. That's where we did most of our shopping and it was pretty good. I don't buy much in ASDA now as we only have a small store and it's not great for fresh food. It's reasonable for other things and has a petrol station. It's also beside 'Home Bargains', both of which have good, free car parks.
