Shouldn't animal abusers always go to prison?

I beg to differ...wouldn't treatment also be expensive? Wouldn't they "dry out" and sober up being locked up for an extended period of time?
Drugs are readily available in prisons, "where there's a will there's a way". Society is worse off by sending drug offenders to prison, where they become hardened, and eventually part of the criminal element.

That's very true...apparently drugs are easier to get in prison than outside.. and the authorities turn a blind eye to most of it because it keeps the inmates from attacking the officers...

I will agree we do not have enough space or resources to put all that deserve it into prisons.....
I feel a simple solution would be a universal marking system......... like a tattoo on their face and illegal to cover it ........ let everyone know you are an animal abuser/ child abuser/ thief / sexual predator etc.......
everyone who comes into contact can know who they really are........ no reason to find out later the furrier you hired was already an animal abuser...

excellent idea.... like in Biblical terms...brand them with the mark of Satan for everyone to see...

Well the prison staff in general keeps an eye open, and conducts "shakedowns" of the housing areas for contraband(drugs, weapons, phones, etc).
There had been 'dirty' staff members though, when I worked for Dept. of Corrections there were several officers and "free staff" that were busted for drug trafficking...

yes , here in the Uk hardly a month goes by where we're not reading about a Staff member being arrested for smuggling drugs, or phones into prisons.....btw did you know now that prisoners phones are so tiny they're no bigger than a 2 pence coin..?... I read that the other day ...

Thought reading the news that they were flown in using drones.

I hadn't heard of phones that small, interesting.

Funny you mention drones, one of our inmate workers in the Weld Shop had a scheme he was setting up, using a drone provided and operated by one of his cohorts on the outside to drop dope and cell phones in the big 40 yd bin we use in the Weld shop for scrap steel. The ISU officers came in and cuffed him up, just as I was going to give him some welding rod for a job.

The ones I noticed in the media just fly the stuff up to the windows, then why bother? Drove past Ford Open Prison today, evenings they go down the pub.

And yes, older ladies rather than men are more likely to be irrational about pampered pets and put bows in their hair.
That's an rude, untrue, condescending and misogynistic thing to say. I know numerous men who love their animals as much or more than many of their relatives, and pamper them plenty.

By the way, irrational is in the eye of the beholder. Best be careful what you say lest you be judged equally harshly.

Here we still retain, hung, draw, and quartered for animal cruelty. Breaking a baby's ribs, arms and legs is a waste of Social Services' precious time.
True. I watch court proceedings on YouTube sometimes. A few days ago I watched a scumbag repeat child offender get 6 lousy months in jail for "molesting" 2 of his granddaughters. They were 3 and 4 at the time.

He was released after serving 14 months. Early release based on Good Behavior.

Good Behavior because toddlers don't go to jail, but whatever.

this is where marking a person would come in handy letting even little ones know avoid that person... i am amazed how many people would be saved from abuse and trauma if people were just outed ......
if ever around another child this person will re-offend.

..but in reality the terrible thing is...child abusers and killers particularly women in this country, once they've finished their sentences are given a new Identity.. and a new place to live where no-one knows them...all at the high cost to the Tax payer... and if any member of the public outs them.. they're arrested..

that IMO is insane ..... no one should get a clean slate for crimes against children

How about treating alcoholics the same as drug abusers? Same thing except for the legality of the substance but alcohol use is sacred to much of our older population so drunks must be handled with "kid gloves".

I would hazard a guess that you and /or your loved ones are more likely to be terminated by a drunk driver than someone addicted to other forms of drugs. Maybe in the future the druggies will catch up but the alkies have the easy access today.
Sad situation no matter how you look at it.☹️

I can't watch any footage of a "human being" attacking or killing an innocent animal.
I agree wholeheartedly but have really had a battle with my conscience lately because our slaughter houses are killing animals as well. By the million! I know they do it more humanely but wish I didn't enjoy meat so much! Sorry for side lining the subject.

To get back to it: I think cruelty to animals is despicable and should always be punished. The method of punishment is a bit unclear to me, though! Would you call the following sane? Two young boys in Nova Scotia enjoyed torturing cats (as the authorities found out later) and ended up derailing a train for the fun of it! Are there still insane asylums? Young or old, animal abusers should be locked up and treated! They have to be mentally ill, don't you think?

Just rambling because thinking of pure evil frightens me!

I believe that child molesters should be given the death penalty. I do not believe anyone else deserves the DP. There is no cure for child molesters.
