I have a home in Florida located right along the Gulf with its own boat slip. As you can imagine, I pay through the nose for insurance. We have had only one claim, which was settled amicably between Travelers and us. No hassles. I was almost speechless because I had expected to pay a lot more out of pocket. We pay close to $10,000.00 a year now. It did drop back $1100 this year. No reason was given.
The house has been for sale for over four years because I have it overpriced due to the fact that I am not in any hurry to sell it. The maintenance on the house has increased 50% the last four years, so I am seriously considering selling the property, which sits on 2+ acres. Just to have the Gardner come by and mow, trim and prune the flowering buses costs almost $8000 a year. Pool maintenance is another $3500 a year and taxes, you don’t want to know. It’s probably time to sell it.
A few years ago, a doctor from New York offered to buy it because it sat next to his brother’s home. The home is assessed at $1.6mil. I have it priced at $2mil even. The doctor offered the $2mil., but I decided to back away from his offer. Today, I would accept his offer. I want to sell the boat with it, if he is interested. If not, the boat will sell quickly.
