He would have been 100 in December. One of my earliest TV memories is of watching Truth or Consequences with my Mama in the very early 60s.

Yes... his TV career was very successful even with a controversy here and there. Always the PSA concerning animals, though.

For me he'll always be the funky présenter of "The Price Is Right". RIP Bob Barker.

Bob Barker was also a pilot during World War II. And played on the Navy basketball team. That would be a resume highlight for most. And let's not forget an advocate for animal rights walking the talk on his show.

I liked Bob Barker. Wasn’t he the guy who reminded people to get their pets spade or neutered? A good & important message.

He was another person who used to spend a lot of time in the gym and held to a strict diet.

Truth or Consequences was more of a free-wheeling show for Bob Barker that gave him a lot more freedom than The Price Is Right, and I think better showcased Barker’s versatility and ability to improvise and interact with people. While now dated and not as flashy, it even had some elements reminiscent of vaudeville or “Amateur Hour,” and could be pretty wild and comic. The Price Is Right stuck to a rather rigid and structured game show formula, and the prizes to be won kind of took precedence. There was and still are a lot of American commercialism and hyped-up greedy contestants on it, yelling and screaming as they vie to cut out their fellow contestants and go for the big loot.
Bob Barker could be a performer in his own right; he was dapper, and a handsome dog in his earlier days…

My mother never missed The Price Is Right until she went into a nursing home. I actually think Mr. Barker looked better as he aged with his white hair. May he R.I.P.
