We are keeping an eye on the hurricane that’s due to past over Florida the next couple days. Looks like it might be above us but need to be aware of this.

If it starts to look bad, then I need to bring in lots of hanging thingys and secure the carport lawn chairs.
Hurricane is not looking good...take care!

I haven't been to the beauty parlor (as we call it around here) in a couple of decades. Back then, they used to cut my hair way shorter than I was comfortable with. Now it wouldn't be a problem, but it's so short and I'm wearing a natural, so it's very easy to manage. I had starting cutting my own hair ever since I was in high school. I can count the times on one hand that I had beauticians cut my hair.

My binge watching is a little different that some people. I don't watch several episodes of a series in one sitting. I'll maybe watch one or two tops in a day and watch other things in between. So as of today, I'll be returning to the last season of Blue Bloods (Paramount+) and continue with the final season of Manifest (Netflix).
That's 😎 cool! I'm going to check out Manifest since I'm looking to binge something.

I just joined up at SF yesterday and you are one of the first few members I've seen from around L.A. I wanted to message you directly, but can't figure out how to do that yet. I am just learning to navigate the site.

I am on the westside. Yes it should be warm for a few days. So glad summer has arrived, finally. It has been down right cold here near the beach most summer long. Looking forward to some warm days.

I am heading to the Venice Boardwalk as I do almost everyday in summer. There I spend a lot of time walking from the Venice Pier to the Santa Monica Pier and back. Lots to see and lots of happy people there to see it with. Have a happy day, wherever you are. L.A. is a big place.
I just sent you a PM. There should be a 1 in the envelope icon near the search bar.

What am I doing today: not going anywhere near the hubby as he is putting up a small shed to hold our garbage and recycle. He is not very handy even if the things to put together are supposed to be simple and easy. I have started to clean out things in my kitchen as we are going to renovate in the next month. We have lived here since 1993 and have never done the kitchen. We have the fridge, stove and dishwasher picked out. I am sure it will be fun (not)!

For me there is distinctive different taste between graham crackers and digestive. I would never make a crust (although I don't bake desserts very often) from digestive biscuits.

My British cookies (ginger) are hard to find and those are the ones that I dip in my tea every 6:30 p.m. They are called Ginger Bits and used to be available in the Bulk Barn but not anymore more. We do have a "British Isles" store and I can buy them there but they do cost more.

Sigh...it's hard when you do find a product you like and then it is discontinued...sigh...
That's very amusing that you have a 'British Isles '' store, because we don't have anything called ''Ginger Bits'' biscuits.

We have lots of different types of ginger biscuits.. but none called Ginger Bits.. ..so if you're being charged because they're imported, well they're not on sale here in the UK

Almost everyone makes a cheesecake crust using Digestive biscuits..very few would use Rich tea biscuits, which are much less sweet, and more bland.. and very much less crumbly..

Elevenses is mid morning tea.. ( tea break when at work ).... afternoon tea is a light snack around 4 or 5pm.. maybe sandwich , biscuit or cake... ...this is the Tea that Hotels charge people fortunes to enjoy in the afternoon. They make trays full of sandwiches, and cakes and endless pots of tea.. for extortionate prices..

The sad thing is, that people do think they're getting their moneys worth when tea is served in a hotel... Ooooh £60 for this lovely spread... forgetting that once they've eaten a couple of sandwiches and a cake.. they can eat no more...:coffee:

This reminds me of when I was young and would go to the church teas with my mother. I was always fascinated by the tiny sandwiches that were usually colored, some were green, some pink, etc. And I loved the petit fours too. A few years ago, my sister, nieces and I went to a tea house. It was a nice "girlie" experience. It was kind of like attending a special event.

Love that colorful tea pot. It's busy but pretty.

Ditto star, I always wondered what Graham crackers were ..altho' I had heard they were similar to Digestives.

Digestives are the plain biscuit which is traditionally taken with afternoon tea..or elevenses... as you can imagine as well as plain, there's chocolate flavours as well.
Hubby just got to try one pack of digestive with orange flavoured chocolate. He was a Jaffa Cakes man. Anything orange AND sweet and his was in his element lol!

Ginger snaps from Mark's and Spencers with Double Cream. Drooling here LOL! Haven't had any in the last 6 years, I guess it's time for a pack of maybe two?

My sister ran a Victorian Tea at her church on Long Island for 25 years. I was never up there at the right time of year (January) but she would send ne pictures and menus. The borrowed tea pots were pretty and the food looked wonderful.

CoffeeBean my amazing alarm clock kitty kat. Told him I needed to be up at 7am for phone call about delivery around 8am.

He woke me up at 6:30am 🐱🐱🐱

Unfortunately, delivery didn't show up until 2pm, bummer!

However, the solid pine oval table and 2 benches are installed in kitchen, finally we've got room to move again. New low coffee table (composite wood fibers oak finish) is in living room and thanks to daughter being a tomboy just as me, the electric sockets bar is now installed as well.

Was going to post photos of new purchases but camera battery dead currently charging. So I'll add here later on.

Lunch was copycat Habitant Soup, yellow split peas with lardons and carrot. Dinner copycat KFC chicken burgers with plastic cheese (those wiggly ones lol) mayo and lettuce.

Brownies with marshmallows and chocolate drizzle for dessert.

Oh BTW that Toffee Apple Cider Robert's Brand was very nice, but something to drink on its own, not with dinner.

Proud of ourselves, me and daughter, just over 2 years to complete furniture upgrade. Last one's a doozie, maybe just next year now, transforming the bathroom...

@Pappy, I decided to bring everything in already. I looked at the news this morning, it intensified and my county is now included in the cone!
We also filled up the car and got some goodies at the store. We do have a whole house generator which give me some peace. We will be keeping an eye on our elderly neighbors as well. Keep safe, Pappy.
You to Rossana. We have a solid clubhouse we can go to if things get crazy.

Right. What I was going to say.

Almost everyone makes a cheesecake crust using Digestive biscuits..

We may be using the same name for different products.

BTW, I buy my graham cracker crust ready made. It also means I don’t have wash a pie pan afterward or can just leave it if I’ve brought it to an event.

Well Supernatural who lived in the USA and now lives in the uk says Graham crackers and Digestives are different..albeit similar

We can't buy ( at least to my knowledge) ready made digestive biscuit crust, here...

Mondays are exciting. Not. Today, I’m just waiting to switch the sheets to the dryer. Absolutely nothing else planned, though there are things I should be doing.
It's a Holiday Monday here.. the last one now until Christmas.. the children return to school on Wednesday...

The sun is shining..most people are away either on holiday or just for the weekend...

Think I'm having some depression creep into this old brain...starting to get emotional at things on tv, and even on
here reading various news sites.....ah well....maybe it will pass soon.....went online to my pharm and ordred refill on anti dep
meds....dunno if they will do it or not...been a long time since i
have needed them.....later gator.......

I've done nothing today except clean Maggiecat's litter box and make my bed. I'm exhausted. Hoping but not believing that I will be able to go back to work on Wednesday.

@hollydolly Not another holiday until Christmas? Ack! I need holidays to keep track of the seasons and break up the monotony of boring days. Next up is Labor Day next Monday, then Hallowe'en, then Thanksgiving, then Christmas.

DSIL has taken DGD to Walgreen's for a covid test. Sigh. Fingers crossed that it's negative and she just has hypochondriacal paranoia after being so sick so often this year.

It's been a while, I know, but I'm back!

The heat wave is over! The heat wave is over!!

More happy news: yesterday was the last Sunday that I will be volunteering at the roller rink!

It was a good weekend, nice parties and nice people.....but one day a week is enough.

💊 I've just gotten home from a busy day in town. First was a stop at the pharmacy to renew a prescription, only to find out that the renewal date expired last Thursday!!!

Luckily I still have a full bottle here at the house. The pharmacist is going to get a new prescription from my doctor. I can pick it up the next time I'm in town.

💸 Next was an appointment with our attorney. All went well and we were out of there (with a lighter checkbook) in no time!

🏋 I (literally) worked my butt off at the fitness center!! It felt good, even though I was exhausted when I was done.

🍉 Wal-Mart was next. I only needed a few things, so thankfully, it didn't take forever. But I did buy our first watermelon of the season!

🍕 Well, I bet you all know where the last stop was! Yep, pizza! From there, home....and time to eat!
