August's Blue Moon, the biggest full moon of 2023, rises this week

So any Full or Blue Moon stories to share?
Is a full moon even special to you?
What am I not asking? What can you share? Thanks !!!

For me, I enjoy full moons. Look forward to them and this one promises to be a very special one of this year.
The light at night is most welcome as it illuminates the shadows and casts a surreal aura across the sanctuary.
Thing is, I may not even be able to see it, what with the storm in the Gulf of Mexico headed this way.
I'm afraid I may be seeing clouds and most likely, tons of rain ... and a bit of wind.
So I'm counting on you guys to observe and enjoy !!!

I did notice last night was getting brighter though.

... and this thread needs some moosik

Cool! Thanks for posting that. I like to keep my grandson informed. He has a very good telescope that takes photos.

Welcome @Murrmurr ... thing is though, I might think since the moon reflects sunlight and this will be the brightest this year, it may be difficult to photograph. Too bright and fewer shadows for contrast maybe. Dunno

Might be a worthy challenge and would be interesting to know what your grandson thinks and makes of it

He text back "Yes, I know. I'm ready for it!" and then, "But thanks for telling me."

I keep forgetting he has the NORAD and NASA apps.

But i'll try to get a shot of it for you as long we're not totally overcast. Currently forecast is for mostly clear. i tend to think that a few clouds, mountain ridges or treetops--probably because they lend some contrast to the brightness make for more interesting? Attractive photos of our moon.

Case in point, this one where clouds create partial 'halo' making it look almost like an eye, it is labeled Ojo de Dios in my photo file:
