I am looking for a specific kind of doorway dog gate

Mr. Ed

Be what you is not what you what you ain’t
Location
Central NY
Barn gate door, half-door, or dutch door. swing open walk through gate door
.new or preowned

Sorry I can't be of help, but this post did make me laugh. :D

You see, if I place a box - say three inches high - in a doorway, my dog will refuse to pass through. In fact, I was taking him for a walk the other day, and a single twig of bramble got stuck on the top of his head. He froze in spot until I removed it. So I guess what I'm saying is, maybe get another type of dog. Like mine, preferably. A dumb dog.

I've learned my dog eats hair and swallows his toys. He loves cloth toys unfortunately they get torn apart and swallowed

Dogs can get mental issues just like humans.
It doesn’t make him a dumb dog. Our dog used to do that and it took me a long time to realize she was almost completely blind. Dumb human. Me! Not you.

My Boston Terrier still does that too, Mr. Ed.
He's 2 1/2 yo.
Has too much energy for us old folks.

We have a stairway that I throw his toys up to the top.
He runs up,, then doesn't bring back the ball.

I 've learned to keep 2 toys going at a time.
Running up & down the stairs uses some of his energy.
Mine is Boston Rat terrier, and..yep. No soft toys for him. Large Kongs and Large Bully Bones.

No, I get it. He's a good dog, and I love him very much. I just know that he's not the smartest dog I've ever owned. :D

He truly wakes up each morning and seems surprised to be alive. He's excited just to see the human rise. He reminds me every day that getting another day of life is something to be celebrated.

No recommendation for what you seek.
I just use a couple of baby gates and call it a day.
The ones I have are taller than most. Mine are 41" tall.

Your dog sounds like a very normal healthy, happy dog , sincerely thrilled to be alive and with you. That’s the awesome JOY of owning a dog. They love and accept us unconditionally and are able to communicate that message through eye contact and body language.

Are they the most precious creatures imaginable? Yessss! 🥳

Luckily dogs don’t care about intelligence.
It’s not a high priority on their list.

Reviewing my options, it is less expensive to settle for a pressure mounted walk through gate, I wish I could get a rustic wood half door or dutch door type swing-latch door

Yes, great gates! ... I had two of those exact gates at my old house before I sold it.

And I had a 95 pound yellow lab at the time. Those gates were very secure, in keeping him contained. (y)
