What have you bought recently?

Several items recently:

Water Dental Washer - for ear health
Laptop movie night headphones, Panasonic - old ones (8 YO) shredding ear pad covering.
Lifetime 24 x 18 laptop table. Dinning room table space bothersome.
Spare power cord for laptop. Don't ask. My OCD quirk kicked in.
Portable spotlight for wife's dog duties.

Air fryer was for the daughter, I like the sweet potatoes nuked in microwave, faster. Everything used otherwise works OK. Small footprint, fits on cabinet tops nicely.

ADDED: Closed out my Amazon successfully, using daughter's account. Sharing the $139 annual fee. She gets a package a day, have to work my deliveries in around hers.

One thing annoying in life is being stuck with allergies. One in particular meant that gorgeous silver sterling jewellery items were always out of reach.

GPs even said it was allergy to Silver... Nuh Huh! The truth came out after many suffering years of green stains from said Silver items.

The culprit? Nickel actually...

Now, daughter and I are happy as can be as we can wear said items without anymore worries.

So below are the two items recently purchased and we're very happy of results.

I took my daughter to an Amish country hardware store today called Lehmans. It was once a true Amish store but has slowly evolved more into a tourist shopping destination, still a fun day. I surprised her and paid for all her goodies, total bill was $347, I think the $47 covered my stuff. I was happy to see her happy, she's such a great kid.
We live in BC, Canada (above Spokane, Washington). Believe it or not, we've ordered items from Lehmanns, a decade & more ago. They're thousands of miles away, but they had all sorts of things useful for people living the hands-on life in the countryside. We did order from Lehmann's before our current local hardware store existed, and now that store has great selection... supported by a good wholesale system they're tied into.

Small world, right? I remember going to Lehmanns when I was a kid, back then it was a true old fashioned hardware focused on Amish/Mennonite lifestyle. Now its a tourist destination, still has some of the old charm and merchandise but nothing like before.

Needed a different watch battery I didn't have to finish the work on a friend's
watch repair.
A common one, so ordered some extras.

Also he wanted to try a different band, so got that also.
(now I got to get him over so I can set the size of the metal band)

Got 3 pocket watches I need to get to, one needs a main spring and the other two
just need a good going over, clean up and possibly new Crowns.
Thankfully, there are still places that sell replacement parts for pocket watches,
so I might get lucky.

Funny that I enjoy repairing old watches, but I wear a 'smart watch'
most days unless I go out, then it takes a while to figure out which other
watch to wear...

I bought a bunch of groceries today which are not available in Tesco which is the supermarket I have the £100 gift card for....

I won't be using that gift card for a while yet because my freezers are now full... so maybe nearer Christmas...

I've been buying in bulk. I bought 1,000 medium sized non latex gloves from Amazon. I saved about $33 in today's prices, maybe even more, over buying individual boxes of 100. The cost had gone up by $3 a box over last year's price and is subject to go even higher. Even Costco's gloves were much higher than before. I use two to three gloves on a daily basis, so it's worth it.

I also bought from Amazon a box of 220 clear 8 gallon trash bags, 4 ml 9 x 12 bags that I use when cleaning Deja's litter box and 16 packs of Kleenex tissues, after being unable to find the tissue packets at a couple of Dollar Trees. Just ordered a case of Crunch & Munch from Dollar Tree. That's my latest guilty pleasure. And I otherwise don't like popcorn. Go figure!
Yeah, we buy lots of items in bulk. As long as the bulk quantity of some things isn't too expensive, buying this way saves money and minimizes nuisance later on.

I do not have a Costco or Sam's Club membership but I am good about watching the sales at grocery store. This allows me to keep the pantry and freezer stocked at the lowest cost.

The most recent stock up was for breakfast cold cereals. Both healthy and sweet for the grandson. Also got baby ribs really cheap. I will break down those and freeze for future meals.

Holidays are coming and I will be replacing/restocking things. This will include canned and baking goods. I will buy six to 12 months of what I need for the following year. Things like canned soups, broths, flour, sugar, canned fruits, pumpkin, vegatables, chocolate chips (grandsons cookies). pie crusts.

It saves lots of money and makes it easy to go to the pantry for any meal. The only thing I had a problem with during covid were toilet paper and bleach. I have started stocking those along with dog food.

I just dont want to become without if the **** hits the fan again!

Last week I bought two cases (12 tins) of tomato and mushroom soup. There was a sale so these averaged out to $.85 per tin. Since the gouging started, regular canned soup is $2. They both had long dates so I’m willing to have them on hand. They’re always good for an emergency or cooking, even if they’re not my favourites.

I often thought like you to buy canned soup for emergencies.. but in reality I hate the taste of canned soup so I probably wouldn't ever use them . Instead I stock up on canned veggies and tuna...for the store cupboard

"Splendid Life" floral arrangement for my little sister's memorial service this Saturday.
I had no idea the price of floral arrangements had gone up so much these days.
But it's the last thing I'll ever buy my little sister and Cathy is oh yeah worth it.
