¢ That one? Or another? If it's that, it's alt 0162. @C50Did it disappear in the age of key boards as a waste of space? There's still times it would be handy to use.
That's the one. I was aware of alt 0162 but that's just as many key strokes as cents, I want my life to be easier!¢ That one? Or another? If it's that, it's alt 0162. @C50
Maybe because dollars are left of the decimal point and cents to the right of it?I don't see the cents in discussing it's disappearance.
I didn't even miss it.
Here's a question:
Why does the dollar sign precede the amount while the cent sign always followed the amount?
In some other parts of the world, the dollar sign is after the amount, such as 3.99 $. In Canada it can be either way, with many in Quebec using the European style which looks like this 17.89 $. Given that Canada stopped making one cent coins at least 20 years ago, the cent symbol is no longer used here. JimB.I don't see the cents in discussing it's disappearance.

What computer are you trying it on?alt 0162 does not work on my keyboard @CallMeKate. What am I doing wrong? I needed the cents sign three times recently.
I had to press Numeric Lock. I got it then, as you see above. What computer are you trying it on?
It works in MS Word on a Dell computer with Windows 10.
I have a work computer at home that shuts off Numlock whenever it reboots. So when I try to login back in it rejects my alpha-numeric password because of that.Pain in the neck--Grrrr
Thanks!
Not sure, @Pepper . Num lock on? (Not sure if that matters... I am SO not tech savvy.) And the alt needs to be held down while typing the numbers. I'm sure others here will be much more helpful. [Edit] OOOPS scratch that.... I see @OldFeller already answered. I need coffee.alt 0162 does not work on my keyboard @CallMeKate. What am I doing wrong? I needed the cents sign three times recently.
Yes.Didn't Canada get rid of their cents?
