National Beer Lover’s Day - September 7th

I'm not a regular beer drinker. You know the saying: "Ale for the gents, wine fir the ladies!"

However, with a fish and chips at the pub, I like a half pint of Guiness, super cold. Occasionally, round Christmas, I'll share a can of Tennant (with Lime Cordial) or nowadays it's daughter's favourite Stella Artois.

Papa drank one kind, I just remember the number in the bottle, 50! He used to put a pinch of salt in it.

Oh I missed this one! I am an IPA Beer Lover. I think @Gary O' loves IPA beer too if I'm not mistaken. In my opinion it tastes better than regular beer which I really never acquired a taste for.....on the other hand IPA beer and I are good buddies! LOL🍻🍺

LOL! 😆That's an old-school Boilermaker, a beer with a shot of bourbon, rye, or Irish whiskey plunked in. The first time I saw that was when I was in my twenties. I was in a bar with my sales manager, an older dude, and he ordered a shot and a beer. Then he dropped the shot into the beer. 😮
I've only heard of Boilermakers. I assumed they were kept separate tho' :ROFLMAO:

I worked for a brewery for 15+ years. Consuming the product was encouraged, but you had to control it! It was a very good company to work for and I still support and consume their products....Rocky Mountain Cool Aid! I will say no more...

Never acquired the taste of Guinness. Did the brewery tour twice in Ireland. (love, love, love Ireland) Got to the top and gave away my two free beers.
No BudLight for me!
A trip to New York state, aeons ago. We stayed at Holiday Inn. We got the hotel dinner special that night served in our room. Pizza large for us, Munchkins got individual 6" ones. They got Kool-Aid... We got Genesee Beer 🍺🍺. Yummy! That was special.

Wish we could have bought some, never found it in local stores around hotel.

PS You've got to have Irish blood in you to love Guiness... Just what Papa said growing up. So said husband... I don't know if I've Irish ancestors, maybe it was in another lifetime but I love it. You should try a sweet porter, it's not as bitter as Guiness, not a stout per say, but delish no less!

I'm not much of a beer drinker, but out of all the beers I had a chance to try in Germany & I found two great beers that I still like. They have around 7,000 varieties of beer from about 1,300 breweries. I think you can find at least one you'll like. Or have fun trying.

The first beer I had that is still a favorite was in Bamberg when we went to eat the first night. I asked for a coke, which is easy to find there, but was served a stein of Rauchbier. My husband looked at me as I was looking at the beer sat down in front of me, so I just took a swig & was hooked. Schlenkerla brewery uses the smoke of burned beech wood smoking its malt to get the smoky flavor. And no, you won't blow smoke rings, its not that intense.

My favorite is from the Czech Republic called Budvar known as "the beer of Kings". Please don't confuse it with the Budweiser (the King of Beer) made here ... not the same!!! You can't buy it here because of an age-old fight between the two breweries about selling in each others country. I can only get it when the family ships it over to me.
