Most emotionally upsetting movie you ever watched!

Actually I have two movies that will follow me emotionally all of my life! (Intentional exaggeration)

1) A River Wild (1996) Meryl Streep, Kevin Bacon! My wife and I had to take off half way through, accompanied by the scornful sneers of her 90 year old aunt who lived with us.

2) Deliverance, which is considered to be a landmark movie! Again, we shut off the TV half-way through because the tension got too much!

I was very young and innocent when I saw Ingmar Bergen's 1960 film, The Virgin Spring, at the movies. It starred Max von Sydow as the grieving and vengeful father of a young girl who was defiled in the woods and murdered by several ruffians.

I started to watch this film but at the first drop of blood on the snow I stopped. It was too real and too raw to watch any more.

I remember everyone filing out of the theater. Nobody was talking; I don't think anyone could talk. I felt like I had a huge knot in my throat and there were a lot of people with wet eyes, me included.

Think for me it would have to be Saving private Ryan, it was at the movies not on TV … I left about half way through the movie, left hubby to it while I went shopping ( most of the theatres in Adelaide are in large shopping centres )
it was not a movie I’d normally choose to see.
