Thanks all. I'm just about alive and well. We've been busy working at the house and garden, then we headed off to Lisbon to celebrate our 50th anniversary (a date we share with Ken) and on returning home, both went down with a stinking cold. (we left Lisbon at 34C and landed in Aberdeen at 11C !) We're both feeling lousy, but pretty sure it is just the cold, so please send more tissues 🤧

I'll post again when my head clears a bit.

Oooh very pleased to know you're fine, aside from a cold... and hopefully had a wonderful 50th Anniversary trip to Portugal...

Happy Capt Lightning and a belated Happy Anniversary,
a cold is the best reason to have a few "Hot Toddies".
Many Happy Returns.

Mike.

Thank you to everyone for their good wishes. We don't bother much with birthdays - no pressies or anything like that, but the birthday boy / girl gets to choose dinner. I'm cooking spicy chicken wings with coleslaw and potato wedges. Hang on- it's my birthday, but I still have to cook dinner!

We celebrated our anniversary in a small tapas restaurant in Lisbon. It was run by a couple who were passionate about good food and good service. It was beyond excellent. It was a very small place and at the next table were a young American couple. We had a pleasant evening chatting to them and when we said that we had been married 50 years, they seemed - wow! how do you manage to do that? They had been married for 4.

Later after dinner, equally wonderful dessert , good wine and vintage port, we went to pay and found that as an anniversary present, the young couple had paid for our drinks! That did a lot to restore my faith in humanity. I hope they have a long, happy marriage.
