The Commanding officer of Canadian Forces Base Trenton has been charged with a number of firearms related offences, after he was seen shooting at birds from his boat on the Murray Canal. He was on leave at that time. He was found to have a 22 caliber rifle and a 9 mm hand gun at the time. He has been removed from his position with the RCAF, and he will be tried in a civilian court on a number of Criminal Code charges. The weapons involved were owned by the Colonel, and they were seized. The Ontario Provincial Police sent a dive team to search the bottom of the canal, to find the weapons which had been thrown over board by the Colonel.
So, why am I posting this ? To point out that here in Canada, doing stupid things involving guns, even if you are a senior Canadian Forces officer, will bring criminal charges. This case is going to trial soon, and if he is convicted, his RCAF career is over for sure, and he MAY end up in prison, depending on what the court decides is a proper punishment.
Please read this link, for further information about the case. link. MSN
Now my personal point of view. This man is not fit to lead others. The fact that he tried to obstruct the Police investigation by throwing the weapons into the canal speaks to his lack of integrity. He knew that he was doing something stupid. JImB.
