Singer/actress Cher had her adult son kidnapped, taken to rehab

According to the article, this "kidnapping" occurred nearly a year ago. November 2022.

For those outside the US, the source of this article, The New York Post, was once a well-respected newspaper, but is now owned by Newscorp AKA Rupert Murdoch, who, as is his habit, turned into a sensationalist rag.
Apparently the allegations cameout during divorce proceedings when Cher's daughter law was giving testimony or evidence to a divorce court.

I noticed that, along with the dozen other publications shown to be featuring this story, in Google search. Each story mentioned "court papers" that the estranged wife filed, in which this alleged kidnapping was described. By my way of thinking an actual kidnapping is illegal, and would be subject to criminal charges. So I feel the 'kidnaping: must have been somewhat voluntary.

Understood. But since Allman filed for a divorce in 2021 and CA is a no-fault divorce state, am guessing the DIL is looking for money.

I'm wonder if she is trying to show that his drug habit was so bad his own mom kidnapped him to get him into rehab. Other than custody of any children involved not sure where a spouse's drug habit would come into play in this case.

When mama kicks off 'ol Blue will have a fortune to run through in a year. I can't help thinking 'so what?'

By constantly sending Blue to rehab at least may be buying him time, and mom's got the money. Besides, what else does he have to do?
That's what I think. Waiting for them to "want to quit" is just too risky when it's your child and the consequences of waiting might be death.

I believe many of them do want very much to quit, but when they try the pain of withdrawal is too hard to bear. It doesn't mean they're weaker or more selfish than the rest of us. Someone like Blue who was doing drugs while his brain was still growing may actually never, ever feel at peace without some sort of drug.

The word "Kidnapped" in this situation is sensationalized bigtime. If a "child" refuses to go for help but strongly needs it for the sake of everyone's safety, 2 professionals will show up with the parents present and take them to where they need to go for help after it's determined necessary by professionals. If there is resistance they may tie their shoelaces together so they don't run. I'm sure Cher and the professionals were calm and the whole procedure therefore not scary.

Chastity is a terrible name for a girl. Obviously Sonny & Cher had no sense at all. Stupid name I could see that name opening a whole host of problems. Names are important, not a show business joke. A joke name, how can you make your own daughter a joke?

I hope we read one day that he gave in to rehab, embraced it, and is a better person that helps children of celebrities navigate those troubled waters. And Cher becomes a Grandma.

I like Cher as a singer, always have... however... she should have thought the damage she was doing when she sent Elijah off to boarding school at the age of 8 and hardly had any contact with him.
And she's probably sent him off to rehab numerous times as well. At 80 she's probably getting reflective and feels it's her obligation to straighten him out before she goes. Something she should've worked much harder on early in her and his life.

But she's probably one of many parents that assumed time would take of things ie he would grow out of it. A common mistake because not only do many parents not know what to do they are in denial-oh no not my kid they would never.
