New York City Under Water

NYC is basically an island so I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often.

Heard unconfirmed reports of people being told or having clear the street curb areas and sewer covers of debris because apparently the city doesn't clean the streets the way it should. If too much debris in street the water will back up fast. It would've eventually backed but at a slightly slower rate. In other word they start out behind.
not just there many places the street crews just not out enough in fall with leaves my area the leaves pile around drain and big puddles form as i walk down the sidewalk i will occasionally kick a break in leaf dam and watch puddles drain.......
I was doing this one day and neighbor said "wow i did not think of that " ....
makes me sad she was looking up a # for city street department.... i fixed in a 5 minute walk....

My grandson got some of that across in Joisey City.
I didn't realize JC had gotten flooded too. My son's truck yard is in JC but he wasn't working on the weekend. He didn't mention seeing flooding on Monday. He was in Atlantic City on the weekend and did encounter minor flooding on a few streets. It was not nearly as bad down there as had been predicted.

@WhatInThe I've always been amazed too that NYC doesn't get flooded more often. The last big flood before this one was during Superstorm Sandy (2012) I think.

@Jules No way I'd want to be wading through that water. NYC is filthy and I can't imagine what all might be in that water.

@Pepper So sorry you were adversely affected. Has your apartment dried out now?
