What fast food is worth paying for it. I don't go out often.

We live in an area that has become gentrified over the years, yet when Panera wanted to come in close by community members voted it down because they were concerned about traffic. Yet we have a Chick-Fil-A a few stoplights down from that and it requires traffic monitors to control the traffic. I would have loved to have a Panera close to the house. Go figure.

When in the western US, we’d make a point of stopping at an In N Out. They were always clean and the young staff was friendly. Lineups out the door.

I love Panera but it's a 20+ mile trip. I do order from Subway, they're in town and have tasty and healthy sandwiches.

We have a chicken chain in the south called Popeyes chicken and it is so good. We rarely eat out maybe 2 or 3 times a year at most but Popeyes beats KFC for us.
Surprise...Popeye's has locations across Canada. Yep. WAYY TOO SPICY for this white boy. I get ticked at their TV commercials that run here in Canada. They have not yet figured out that Canadians are not Americans, and the characters in the commercials are obviously Americans. Five Guys here is just barely hanging on, due to their very high prices, and mediocre food. JimB.

Fish n' Chips is my favourite, if it's under "fast food". Our favourite place is Len Duckworth's on the Danforth, in Toronto.

We order halibut, the priciest fish, but, it's to die for. Also, not inexpensive.
I would love to have a good affordable fish and chip place nearby. Catfish is available at many of our chicken places but I am not a catfish lover. I would want white fish done in the english style.

We do have Long John Silvers. They are not close to me so I only would go there if I am in the area.

I had spicy Popeye's rice with ground beef, once, decades ago .. it caused such an immediate stomach upset, we had to stop at 3 petrol stations on the way home.

Have not tried Popeye's since.

Many people seem to prefer Haddock, or, perhaps they don't want to pay the higher price for Halibut?

Now I want fish & chips!

I don't associate Halibut with fast food. I only ordered it at a sea side restaurant one time. It was special, but I don't think I've ever seen it at a regular grocery store, and the quality of fish is proportional to it's distance from the sea. Or should that be "inversely proportional?"

Decades ago we went to Popeye's a lot (for us, so maybe 10 times in 2 years) I loved the spicy chicken and Cajun rice. However I'm sure I haven't been to their locations for at least 20 years. Maybe the quality went way down since 1979?

We‘ve had Popeye‘s twice. The first was in Toronto and it was awful. In Vancouver, we tried it again and it was delicious. At the airport I had Carl’s Jr. The line was long and it was worth it. That’s high praise from someone who doesn’t like burgers.

This discussion reminded me of a family run bar and grill that used to have some great lunch time specials. I remember their soft tacos fondly, but also their "Beef And All" which was a sort of open-faced Philly cheesesteak sandwich with jalapenos and mushrooms.

That's on my list to visit soon... yummy hush puppies. Years ago they had deep fried oysters and I absolutely loved them. Then they disappeared from the menu, at least my local LJS's... I'd go 100 miles if there's actually one that still serves them. :giggle:

Just curious about what fast foods you have tried. What is tasty, worth the cost that you have tried. The ones I am curious about are In and Out Burgers, 5 Guys burgers, Chipotle, Raising Canes chicken? I think, that most of us have had McDonalds, Taco Bell, and all the pizza places but some of the newer franchises have not been tried.

I would prefer having a caferteria nearby where you can get a meat and three veg but the ones I had close have all gone out of business. It was a favorite of mine growing up and a place I could always take my Mom and she would enjoy it so much.
I don't eat at the "fast food" chains on a regular basis. It's more like once every few months if I'm busy or need a quick meal. The ones that I have eaten from and recommend are: Panera (loved their salads!), Chik-Fil-A, and Wendy's.
