What has you excited these days?

Aw, c'mon. It's hard to imagine you don't have a hot date. If that's true, then I apologize on behalf of men everywhere.

How sweet! Not all mankind is as gallant as you are, Sir Bobcat!

Most likely, the knight on the white horse had to stop for hay or something.I'm sure he'll be there soon to lift you up on the back of his stallion, and whisk you off to his castle. After that, if anything "pops up", I highly doubt you will let us know.

Who knows, he might be on his way 🤔, but, I dunno, he doesn't look too bright. I think he's lost. 🥴

Well, how about that... a bouquet just popped up. Well ..... not exactly a bouquet, it's more of a bush I grew from my mother's lilacs. It's not as good as your hot date scenario, but it cheers me up. Maybe it will put a smile on your face for today anyway.
I love lilacs; they're heavenly, but it's you, Sir Bobcat, that put a smile on my face! 😊

Well, he may not look like much right now, but just wait till dark when the transformation happens. He becomes Magic Knight, which is what you'll have once he gets all that suit of armor off (According to legend anyway).

Excited? Not much excites me anymore, pretty much in the been there done that phase of life.

Happy is more the definition of what I experience. Little things like buying a mini chain saw to cut dead branches off our trees is a reason to be happy. At 82 being able to use my neighbors 20 foot ladder to access the top branches is happiness.

Uh huh, if that ever happens, it would be a "Miracle Knight". 😆

Ha ha. You're a sweetheart for saying so, but really, it's on the first page of the Knighthood manual. "Good grief man, find a maiden in distress and rescue her".
I can't say that anyone's ever called me Sir Bobcat before, but it sounds rather noble. I will try to earn the title.

Be careful dude. Once I was on a ladder and cutting a big limb with the chainsaw, and the branch fell straight down where I planned it, but it didn't stay there. When it hit, it compressed some of it's branches and sprang right over towards me and took the ladder out from under me. I went one way and the chainsaw went the other. Fortunately, I wasn't hurt, but I learned that day to always anchor myself to the tree.

Thanks for the heads up on how you could have been injured. My plan for the larger limbs is to use a 100 foot long cotton rope to loop around an adjoining large healthy branch then put tension on that and tie off under tension. That way when the cutting is done the rope will hold the dead branch & I can lower it safely.

For sure I'll be getting a lot of exercise climbing up & down.

It's possible that may work, but I suspect if your tie on the limb you are cutting is not far from the cut, that part will stay put, but the rest will swing downward, and it's a little unpredictable as to where it may swing, and could hit the ladder, so I would still be anchored to the tree or in it, and have someone nearby in case the ladder gets jarred loose.
Also, JMO, I wouldn't use a cotton rope, I would use a Poly truckers rope, unless it's just a very small limb without much weight. Cotton has minimal strength.

Thanks for your concern & suggestions.

The limbs are not to thick & putting tension on them after where the cut will be insures the separation will be drawn away from me. Cotton clothes line rope gives me the stretch tension I'll need. I will be cutting the lower limbs 1st. giving me stability points & if shaky I will tie the ladder to a good anchor point. In my lifetime I've done a lot of tree work so I have confidence this project will go as planned.

My 78 yr. old wife will be there ready to call an ambulance if this goes wrong. Life is full of hazards, I'm just thankful I still have the health physical ability at my age to tackle DIY projects.

Surely that's no allowed... do you have employment tribunals there ? ...if that was happening here it would be looked on as a racist problem. The company favouring the Asian employees..
We have human resources but they generally don't do crap except take up office space.

Sounds like it's a pretty involved game, but I'm sure once you get into it, it really challenges your brain. I think my life would be a little busy to commit that kind of time. It's my own fault though because my mind is always coming up with things to do.

Anyway, I'm so sorry that you don't get to go anywhere because of funds, but at least having a chance to rest, slow down, and enjoy life a bit is therapeutic. Listen to some music, maybe a little gardening, and a few movies will make it all worthwhile. :)
I don't garden. I can kill plants in a heartbeat. LOL!

That game is very slow paced. It takes time to get things accomplished but I find it interesting. It's something I can pop in and out of like a forum to work on. Even if I had the money I likely wouldn't go anywhere. I enjoy being home too much. I will probably nap and do some reading.

Not a bad plan. I am an early riser, so I convince myself that I deserve a nap, notwithstanding I would take one either way. 😴

I just spent 11 days in Russia. I couldn’t get over how clean Moscow was, or how beautiful the city is. Being that I am now an NGO, I was carefully watched and asked a lot of questions from time to time. When I went out at night, I knew I was being tailed. They made no mistake about it. It was like they wanted me to know I wasn’t alone.

The people were great, but they seemed to be afraid to speak too long with me. I wanted to take pictures, but they did not allow me because of my status. I enjoyed myself and the food was also very good for the most part. They served a lot of dishes I had never tried before. It was all good. My favorite dish was the Beef Stroganoff.

So a revived 2023 thread.

Well my 2024 fall outdoor music fun has now about run its course as cooler weather keeps us more indoors.
Moving forward, most excited about visceral pleasures of the approaching Tahoe snow ski season.
