Cooler weather has arrived.

While in the shower this morning,,, discovered a tick on my side!
Pulled it off , threw it in the toilet.

Later went downstairs to a full length mirror to check where it had been.
O, phooey,, there a red spot about size of my thumb!
Emailed my son who replied get a shot for it soon.

Caught up with our niece & showed her the spot,,'yup, you need to get some medicine. for that.'

Of course my husband was away from the house & I didn't want to leave a note saying I was a the hospital.

When he did come in, he had fallen & hurt his shoulder.
So a quick bit to eat & off we went to get thick bite checked & get medicine for it.

Then a drive to the wedding ,, watched that .
Gave excuses as to his jury ,, couldn't stay,, home again.
Heating pad on the shoulder & pain relief pill for him.

Will see how his shoulder feels in the morning.

I guess you're not a Yooper judging by your references to "housing tracts" and "creating farmland." Housing tracts or a need to create farmland in the UP...LOL!!!

Well you're right about that. I was born and raised in and around Grand Rapids, then moved to the Lansing area for school and then work.

One boy graduated from MTU in Houghton, though, and I house-hunted the Ontonagon area for years thinking of retiring there before really hard times hit in 2008 hollowing out the already-small communities.

It rained a little last night.

Well I get up every morning about an hour before my wife. This morning, I'm making my coffee and I notice there's a couple inches of standing water in the rinse side of our kitchen sink. So I spent an hour doing the annoying, messy job of unclogging the drain... add another 15 minutes of clean-up under the pipes area and putting tools away. Truth be told, not fun.

Today we go to lunch with a number of friends at a neighbor's place. Then I think we'll be doing more tidying before we have people over tomorrow evening for Thanksgiving dinner. It's an agreement with my wife that today I'll peel, boil & mash a load of potatoes for a dish she's going to make for the get-together.

Sunny but coolish out. I'll probably do a bit of outdoor work today, too.

I get the idea that Thanksgiving is probably a bigger deal in the U.S. Here, many jobs give employees a three-day weekend. I think at least some schools are doing that, too. It is a family thing. But, due to where various people live, a lot of us (like myself) have surrogate "families" made up of non-blood "relatives" whom we feel close to.

I'd say the commercial passion, which includes selling air-travel tickets, is somewhat less in Canada than in the U.S.

You know, because the English were one of the first European people to colonize the Americas (definitely so in North America), our two nations both have roots in what history remembers as "the pilgrims". That's where the idea of "Thanksgiving" comes from, right? After the American independence from England, the sense of British roots has been much slower to fade in English-speaking Canada. (The French regions had no sentimentality about Britain.)

I believe the date of Thanksgiving in Canada was selected for a couple of reasons: First, Thanksgiving is a harvest festival. Being a northerly country, harvests come earlier in Canada than in much of the U.S. And second, so much culture (with hype) comes across the border, I think there was an incentive to have our Thanksgiving up here before you do down there. But feelings of gratitude, on both sides of the border, are the same, I think.
Thank you for your very insightful and interesting reply. I could not agree with you more that Thanksgiving is very much a commercialized (selling travel tickets) holiday than it was meant to be or was in the past.

The holidays of Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas all fall at the end of their respective months. At the beginning of each of these months the commercial hype begins and extends all the way to the respective holiday of that month. Commerce seems to have realized this characteristic to its advantage.

The holiday day at the end of the month seems almost a let down for some, and for many a great relief that it's over. Comparatively speaking commercialization is relatively little for New Year's Day because it follows Christmas by only a week which gives food and beverage companies little time to promote their products.

I’m excited about having a new cedar fence installed around our backyard tomorrow.

Now I just hope our puppies will be good and stay in the temporary fence we make
so they can go out and potty without getting in the way of construction.

Instead of baby proofing our house we have puppy proofed it with an extra little gate
at the front exterior door and the back gate. ☺️

Last night, we attended "Creatures of the Night" at the Tampa Zoo. Zoo-licious!!! It was great getting to see the animals at night and the little 'uns had so much fun dressed in their Halloween costumes, dancing with the "zombies", high-fiving the Trolls, and meeting all the clowns, witches and fairies.

There was one "haunted attraction" called the House of Lost Dreams that advertised it might be too intense for younger kids. I wanted to go in and started to go in by myself while the kids stayed with their mother. The 4-year-old said, "I'm going in this with MeeMaw!" Her mom said, "Are you sure?" She said, "I wanna go!" so off we went.

It WAS pretty intense and she laughed all the way through. At one point she looked at me and said in this real dead-pan voice, "I have no idea why I'm doing this but I LOVE IT!!!"

There was this horrible-looking demented bunny character, which creeped me out and she described it as "that bunny was REALLY CUTE!"

I love them all, but that little rascal is definitely my soul mate. There's a 25-year-old daredevil lurking in a tiny 4-year-old body. That child is afraid of nothing.

As we left at 9 p.m., she asked, "Can we go again next week? I wanna see the bunny again!"

That kid.....

I walked to the supermarket early this morning and continued my mission to catch up on laundry using my mini washer, separate spinner & apartment sized dryer. Later I talked with fwo friends who called and took a couple of naps. I also played Words With Friends and watched Disney's Haunted Mansion..

It's 5.35 am and I'm still awake.. not even feeling tired... Gonna stay up now, unless I doze off sitting on the sofa.. because I have deliveries today, and I don't know the ETA of them... sun rises at 7.15am...

I've just been clearing more photos from my Cloud....
I am so worried about you, this is how my up all night problem started. Try to get back to your normal routine before your body clamps down to this. I should have went to the doctor about it long before I did.

Up too early again...awake since 4am, now 530am...47deg F,
this prednisone is kicking my butt, nerves, shakes, now sleep
problems....hope it helps....take care all...today my house lady
is coming to do her work....friend brought me some stuffed
green peppers last eve, so that was nice.....catch u later....

I've got 2 deliveries arriving today...one between 2 & 3pm and the other between 3 & 5pm... it's racing towards 11.30am now./so it would be too much of a rush to go out and get back in time, so I'll leave it today.

The sun is shining...

I've got to get prepared to have no water for a week as from Wednesday while new pipes are laid in my road....I'm presuming they mean none between 8am and 5pm... but still a major inconvenience.

I'll have to fill buckets of water the previous night to be able to flush the toilet the next day ... ..

I didn't roll outta bed until 5:30 because...day off.

Nothing on the agenda for the day so far except that there will be no 🥐.
Do you dream about croissants ?...

No @hollydolly I definitely don't dream have nightmares about 🥐!

It's supposed to be a nice day. Cold now but a sunny and pleasant 75 later. I don't feel like puttering around in the garden. Did laundry after work yesterday and really should sort out clothes in case the seasons actually do change.

Maybe I'm getting old. Don't feel like doing this, that or the other thing anymore. Meh.

Geez! Maybe I'm depressed and don't know it.
