IMG_0094.gifIt’s the world’s heaviest cucumber, weighing a whopping 30lbs – about the same as a mountain bike. Vincent Sjodin, known to family and friends as Vince the Veg, grew his 4ft-long record-breaker in a polytunnel, and had to erect a hammock to stop it collapsing under its own weight. Vince, from the Vale of Glamorgan, also holds the record for the heaviest marrow (256lbs). He turned up at September’s UK National Giant Vegetables Championships with a 5lb potato, a tomato the size of a football, and a pumpkin that had to be driven there on a flatbed truck.

that looks like a Marrow not a cucumber..

I did see cucumbers once in a fruit market which were mostly green and they had orange/yellow markings.
I didn't buy....
@Mizmo, could it have been a Delicata squash?

I had a lot of cousins, and a lot of them lived on farms. One time a neighbor had planted a large patch of cucumbers across the road from them. After the harvest, a lot of the plants remained and must have still had small fruit on them too puny to harvest.

For some reason while visiting these cousins later in the season we went over there, and there were a lot of vary large and mostly very large cucumbers (not huge, but big and heavy). The remaining fruit had grown, were yellow, and were now far past their prime. Not really salad cucumbers but a stumpier variety destined to become pickles ("gherkins" in Commonwealth Pidgin).

Pickle fight!

These were plump and soft and went splat when they landed. We got pretty wet and gunky.
