Not Ouija Boards but Pendulums

A friend many years ago used a pendulum like a
Ouija Board, she wrote the alphabet plus numbers
0 - 9 in a circle, on a piece of paper and held a crystal
pendulum over the center, asked me to think a question
and not to tell her, when the pendulum swung across a
letter or a number I had to write it down, I can't remember
the question now, it was probably silly, but the answer was
definite and to the point, a few days later it was proved true.

Possibly about the result of a horse race.

This was over 50 years ago.

I've seen "pendulum diviners" more recently. But they seem to ask yes/no questions and take clockwise as yes and counter-clockwise or side-to-side as no. Or maybe I got that backwards?
You got it right, it was just a different type of diviner than the one Mike described.

There was also the Ouija-type divining table, popular in the mid to late 1800s. Everyone present placed their hands on the table until it rose up, then the whole thing spun slowly and tilted toward a letter of the alphabet to spell out answers to questions. Must have taken half the night to answer one question.

There were hundreds of predecessors to the Ouija board.

My Italian side of the family believes in that stuff. When a lady in the family becomes pregnant, the family witch (medium) dangles a sewing needle at the end of a thread above her belly. If the needle swings in a clockwise circle, the baby is a boy. Counter-clockwise predicts a girl. (I might have that backwards)

A pendulum successfully foretold how many children we would have (and the sexes) along with my three sister-in-laws. We haven't touched pendulums since.
2, 3, 3, 7 - Pendulums scare the bajeepers out of us.

ASMR doesn't seem too popular around here, but there is a branch of it that leans... soft occult?

Here is a "druid" who focuses a lot on the use of Far Eastern practices and mixes in the use of a pendulum:

This woman also uses Celtic and perhaps even Norse trappings in other videos.

It is a long video, but that's kind of the point. Most of these are meant for a broader audience looking to be calmed down and lulled to sleep.

Just goes to show that one needs no special tool to pursue the occult. I would suppose one could dangle a nail from a string and see which way it points. But I am convinced that to pursue the occult is to pursue a realm controlled by Satan. You initially feel a rush of power and control, but eventually may get so involved that you end up being the one controlled. The power is never from the object nor is it power from you. It is power from Satan.

My brass pendulum has been with me since 1976. It was given as a Christmas present from Secret Santa. The instructions were simple. Hold in hand in the way shown and ask questions. Clockwise one possible answer. Anticlockwise another and moving across a maybe or don't know.

It's never failed to give me the correct answers to my queries. It's also always with me wherever I go.

Oops, I forgot to put in the original post, that I
was required to put a cross at the top of the page,
not a X, but a cross like a crucifix, to keep out evil
spirits!

I'm not understanding the process Mike. Did you number your questions (0 - 9) to coincide with the numbers she wrote?
No, OneEyedDiva, the alphabet plus numbers 0 to 9, were
written in a big circle, I had to "think", a question, not say
anything, I just sat there and wrote down each letter or
number on another piece of paper, what I wrote down was
the answer to my "Mental Question", my friend didn't know
what the question was, nor did she understand the answer,
she just held the pendulum over the center of the circle.

It really was very strange as it unfolded and got very weird,
to me anyway, as the answer came back, it was relevant to
the question.

Oh okay. Thank you for clearing that up Mike. :)
