Things that don't make sense.

For instance: You can have a music system in your car, or in your home, or a portable boombox, but none of them will come with a built-in hard drive to store music files on. They have inputs where you can plug in an MP3 player, or USB memory stick, or CD player, but it is not integrated into the player because it violates some law. But if you can accomplish the same thing with two devices, why not just integrate them to make it easier.

Also, in the state I live in, you can't buy some things by the gallon, but you can buy as many quarts as you like. Just doesn't make sense to me.

What things defy logic to you?

In my city a person can sleep on the sidewalk, but not in his/her car. A person can sit in the car indefinitely when parked. But, if he/she falls asleep or naps he/she can be arrested. So, when driving should you become fatigued be sure to pull off the road and take a nap, but not in your car. Instead, get out of your car and sleep on the sidewalk or roadside even if it is raining. Logical? Likely?

Not placing faith in an intelligent designer creating babies, butterflies, and love
Yet placing faith in a chaotic explosion creating babies, butterflies, and love
I'm simply saying "It doesn't make sense to ME" but of course believe the way you choose.

People who allow a political party to become part of who they are, above all else.

A religious conviction that is largely based on where you're born (US - Christian, India - Hindu, China - Chinese Folk Religions, etc.)

In terms of war, the idea that God is on your side (although a fine song by Bob Dylan).

Why people like Olives.

People with strong convictions about things they know virtually nothing about.

People who think love, and marriage, are a joke.

America’s attitude toward universal health care as opposed to that of the rest of the civilized world.
It's not that Americans don't want universal health care, we just know OUR government will screw it up. Just ask anyone on Medicare or Tricare or VA, all programs gutted by government greed, criminal fraud and apathy.

Not to mention, many US states have a much higher population than most countries in Europe. While universal health care is dandy in Norway or England or Finland, all of which have fewer people than 1 large US state like Texas or California.

A better idea for healthcare in the US is for the government to set prices for procedures and medications and to prohibit sending medical debt to collections.

Not to turn this into a Healthcare thread, but it's worth remembering that the NHS is "free" to all and sundry at the point of service, but it's not actually free. It has to be paid for, and that comes from taxes. More population, more taxes, more money to spend on it (which is a great theory, but in reality it's used as a political football). This topic is a minefield when it's being discussed, so I won't go further with it. The entire medical industry is one big nest of greedy businesses. From the prices charged for the medications, to malpractice.

I think you can get a good read on a country from the way it treats its poorest.

That we worry more about Artificial Intelligence than we do about Natural Stupidity......
absolutely,
Astonishing that we had mini computers in our hand and access to information .. yet so many do not use it.... do not research anything . Do not look up items heck many make mind up by a carefully crafted headline..... sad but as a comedian once said you can't fix stupid.

Perhaps worse, a whole lot of people don't know HOW to research things. They think a quick Google search and click on one article that confirms what their already held opinion is, is worth dying on a hill for.

Google is so heavily censored that a person looking for multiple opinions on a subject should go elsewhere from the start.

Frankly, that's the least of it. ALL search engines have algorithms that control hits. All of them. I was thinking more of the simple statistic that in only 6% of Google searches, does the user go to Page 2 of the results. Which means either a) There search results are very very good; b) People have short attention spans, and they just want a quick answer. Which isn't conducive to real research.

I love olives! But without the curing process they would taste like poison.
