Minimalist living... do you ?...

lol..I didn't mention when I said I have 32 drawers that I have a walk in closet...and a triple floor to ceiling wardrobe :D
You got a "wow" because, I was going to write that I have lots of clothes and stuff but, as it all fits in a wall-to-wall, floor to ceiling fitted wardrobe which, I imagine is a similar capacity to your triple wardrobe, I feel as if I may well be minimalist after all! :D

I think I am tidy rather than minimalist. I don't like clutter.

yes that's me really...more tidy.... but with a load of stuff.... :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

welcome to my back pain world.... :)

Well, to be fair, when I had my back problem - which was bad enough that I was unable to walk - the pain truly was horrendous. Morphine didn't take it all away, for goodness sake.

But - today I probably qualify as pain free. I got treatment in Germany, and they did a great job. I no longer need pain relief for back issues, so I can sympathize for those that do, but I can't say I am in any way suffering at near the level they are.

I now need to go and find some wood to touch.

Yearly? Goodness me, that sounds exhausting. I'm on the never schedule myself. :D

Not the closet yearly lol just the chest of drawers and dresser, takes about 30 mins,I just go through the clothes and see if we want to get rid of older things if we get new things like at Christmas, you can only have so much stuff lol lol. My husband hates to get rid of anything.

yep same here at it's worst I was unable to walk.. the pain was so excruciating.. I was crying as I crawled...

I had several interventions.. cortisone injections etc.. which helped to at least allow me to live a life for a while each time... but they can be no more .. ..I have to live with the back pain and muscle relaxants .. which is caused by 6 herniated discs... a tear in the lower disc pressing on the sciatic nerve ... and OA between.. V 1-2 V 2-3 V 4-5 and V 5- S6

I think in many ways our clothing reflects our lifestyle.. for example I worked in and industry where we had to dress well... and look a certain way... and then I had an active social life... and lots of holidays, (vacations) and so on which required a lot of clothing and shoes ... now since I retired.. I've put weight on so that means more clothes..in the meantime I've donated many of the previous clothes and shoes.. but I'm still not really reducing much , because I'm still buying..

We have zero chests in our bedroom, but we do have a nightstand and an armoire that was fairly full of bedding for a queen size bed. All gone now because we gave away all the quilts and comforters along with the bed a few weeks ago. We now have two twin beds made-up in their new sheets and quilts. The armoire is empty now except for the bottom drawer which is where we keep our important papers that would probably go into a desk if we had one.

The walk in closet holds all our clothes with a hanging rack of shelves for our small clothes.

I have always known we are borderline minimalists because every time the Air Force moved us they would comment that we had about 3000 lbs while most families had the 10,000 lbs allowed plus more they had left in storage.

We never lived in base housing because we could save more money by taking the housing allowance and renting below it. So we had our own furniture. We don't have much more than that now.

Our three car garage holds three cars, a push mower and a ladder. Our 2100 sq ft house has the usual furniture in the living room, TV room, reading room, our bedroom, son's bedroom, kitchen with eating area, and formal dining room, plus two baths. We moved ourselves 18 years ago and had every box unpacked and every piece of crystal, art and frying pan in it's place by sunset.

I can't figure out what other people are buying that we don't have.

I think another difference with us in the UK..is that our houses are much smaller than the average American house and with little or no built in storage..

I spent time hanging from the ceiling. No, really. I was completely suspended. I think that was likely key for me, but to be honest I don't know all the details of what they did (they were German). Whatever it was, I will be eternally grateful.

Sorting out the wardrobes is my ongoing project!

I am always getting rid of stuff, adding stuff, re-arranging stuff, sometimes even selling stuff. I love those plastic zip up bags for wardrobes too and have storage boxes for things like jumpers. A friend of mine has lots of lavendar in the garden so, when it is cut down, it is passed to me and I make lavendar bags and get to keep some for wardrobes and drawers.

Thinking about it, I probably have some condition or other as I love tidy wardrobes and the waft of lavendar - if it's not a condition yet, I may be patient zero in the wardrobeitis bordering on lavenderitis range. Gosh! I wonder if I should be seeking medical help ;)

That is interesting,so you have no closets?
No.... we have no closets except a very small space under the stairs which is tiny but just barely big enough to hold the Vac, and the Ironing board.. We made a spare bedroom (box room.. ).. into a walk in closet../Office room for me by building a wall and door separation using a third of one bedroom..... the triple wardrobes in the other room were also made by us.

Adhesion: Vampires can walk or crawl on any surface. Some vampires can even hang from any ceiling no matter what material it is made of. o_O🦇

I need German intervention... as does @Murrmurr .. who is very much worse than me.. and in almost constant pain who I believe has had the hanging therapy too....

Looks like we've taken this completely off topic... oops...
